The difference in those couplings is that one of them is a pressure rated fitting & one is a dwv ( non-pressurized ) fitting & yes primer is required to properly join pvc fittings

The M98 is NOT a grinder pump. Not all effluent pumps are grinders, this holds true for sewer pumps too. The M98 does not grind material into a slurry, as a grinder pump does. The M98 can pass solids and other materials due to its design - no screen over the impeller.

We saw you connected all 4 downspouts to one 4 inch pipe. How many downspouts do you guys hook up before going to 6 inch pipe ?
@carltoncopp3032
@carltoncopp3032 Жыл бұрын
A 2x3 gutter downspout is 6 square inches in cross sectional area. The 4” pipe is 12.56 square inches. In a pouring rain, two downspouts would max out pipe. My answer would be two downspouts before going to 6” pipe which is 28.25 square inches. The six inch pipe can support the four downspouts the job has. My take is that the design is wrong here. Don’t forget about the force of all this water coming out the emitter which is a restriction in itself.
@carltoncopp3032
@carltoncopp3032 Жыл бұрын
Correction. I went back and viewed the video again. The home has 3x4 downspouts so the 4” pipe will only support one downspout, not two. The cross sectional area of the four downspouts is now 48 square inches. You would need 8” pipe to support those four downspouts which 50.25 squares inches in cross sectional area.

Chuck, can a french drain have a couple downspouts running into it and Can I run PVC behind the house and then run it into corrugated down to the ditch? I'd run all corrugated but I have a row of Canna's behind the house and am worried about their roots getting into the corrugated pipe. Thanks Chuck. Soooooo helpful!
@hoakuroija1089
@hoakuroija1089 2 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't put water from downspouts to a perforated pipe as it will flow out of the perforations and wet the soil and cause problems. Corrugated pipe or PVC doesn't really matter, only place for roots to get in would be at the fittings. If there is heavy traffic, the most flimsy corrugated can't be recommended as it might crush under the weight of a vehicle. PVC to corrugated non perforated is also fine.

Can a no hub survive underground? Seems like the rubber would eventually fall apart. Thnx for the excellent tips.
@dumbluck6180
@dumbluck6180 4 жыл бұрын
They are allowed underground (at least in Oregon). I had to replace a section of my concrete sewer line with ABS. I used a no hub and it passed inspection. I can't figure how else I could possibly transition from concrete to plastic. The one I used was a "reducer" because the concrete and ABS had the same ID, but different OD.
