Having a Downton Abbey film focused on WW2 would present many interesting angles and possible intrigue for the characters, e.g., German spies, impacts of Allied soldiers, etc. Frankly, I would like to see Downton in a series of films dealing with British life in the WW2 era, post-WW2 and the early 1950s and beyond as a dramatic vehicle to show changes in British life in the 2nd half of the 20th century, as the series has done for the 1912 - 1932 period. Frankly, I think the latter decades can be even more interesting adding World War 2, changes in British society in the post-War period, perhaps intrigue with the Iron Curtain, etc., since people will be more familiar with these later decades.

Oh it'll definitely be very interesting to see how Julian Fellows wrote this storyline.
