He really is but we were talking about it at work and I said Thomas has become one of my favorite characters and after the first season I thought that is impossible. BUT Thomas not only being "dreamy" but as the character is the best when he is being true to who he really is. The scene with Mrs. Hughes in Season 3 was heartfelt and heartbreaking..Ok I know I am obsessed...LOL

Rob James Collier and Joanna Froggatt like their American Counterparts, got their start on Britian's Longest Running Soap Opera Coronation St that debuted in 1960 and is still on the air. They were on at different times though.

Joanne Froggatt played the doomed sister of Myra Hindley in See no Evil. Her performance there was better than Downton. She is a superb actress. I think Julian Fellowes gave her the rape story because he knew she could nail the emotion and she did.

I've been watching The View, Anderson Cooper and now this interview the Downton Abbey cast. It looks like Rob is wearing the same shirt in all three, and the rest seem to be wearing the same outfits as well. Did they do all of these interviews in one day or something?
@oz_media11 жыл бұрын
When doing a promo tour in another country, it's most common to spend 16-18 hours going from one interview to another. That's the work part that actors and musicians deal with.

This is without a doubt the best Show to ever come out of England. Oh here's another fun fact for the US Fans. Rob James Collier and Joanna Froggat were both on The Same Soap Opera at different times called Coronation St. He played Liam Connor who can do a great American Accent. Type in Corrie Actors Impersonating Americans. Joanna Froggat played a Teen Mom named Zoe Tattersal and she also played inmate Rachel Hicks on a show called Bad Girls who killed herself in Episode 4.

Yes Michelle isn't in this video so I didn't mention her, but she's one of the most noticeable. For one thing unlike most of the rest of the cast (but not the daughters) she's from SE England. Her native accent is probably "estuary English".

What a load of bollocks. Educate yourself before writing such nonsense. Dozens of regional accents across the British Isles existed long before America was a twinkle in a seafaring explorer's eye, and exist to this day. 'High class English' (as you call it) is not how ''the English accent was born'. A tiny percentage of English people speak in that way - the majority don't. Neither is American the 'original English accent'. It is a hybrid dialect derived from an amalgam of European settlers.
@mimmar389112 жыл бұрын
I'm American, but I'm such a British television/movies fanatic that I actually can hear the difference in the way they talk in interviews versus in Downton. The difference in how Michelle Dockery speaks as Mary and the way she does in real life is especially pronounced, but other Americans I've mentioned this to haven't noticed! (By the way, most Americans wouldn't know what you meant by posh!) I'm also the only American fan I know who doesn't have trouble at times understanding the accents.

It's not strange that you think that - especially if you're American, but in fact most of them sound different than they do in character. Less posh. Particularly Hugh and Joanne. Of course she's from the north like most of the cast, but in the show they are doing period accents.

English in America had to be simplified because other European immigrants came there as time went by. The original English spoken by the colonist was more or less bastardised. I mean when do the English say "felony" or " semester .???

I hate to stir the pot, but study in linguistics strongly suggests that the American accent was the original accent used in England. When settlers colonised America, they retained it. But to distinguish between social classes, high class ppl in England began talking differently than commoners, and the accent defended that classes. Thus, the English accent was born. So in conclusion, us Americans talk normally and you English talk wierd.
