I like these tours because we are taken beyond the main drags. We get to see areas we don't usually get to know. I was surprised how beautiful the area around the galleria is. Love those tree-lined streets. Trees make a huge difference in a scape. They soften and beautify it. This is now my favorite tour guide.

South of downtown, Westheimer always had a lively street scene. I remember once you got west of Montrose, Westheimer was a tree-lined street with old houses that were converted to ethnic restaurants, quirky bars and shops. Prufrock's bar had poems of TS Elliot painted on the walls. Looks like it's all gone, now strip malls, tattoo parlors and pawn shops. The only place I recognized that's still there 40 years later is Southland Hardware.
