Definitely not Miami natives like myself would… i remember growing up in the 70s and this detention center was like secluded hardly nothing around there. My grandfather use to work in the police department nearby. I feel sorry for Nonmiamians who pay to have a relax time and don’t get it. Miami is a gorgeous place ❤

I was a corrections officer at FDC miami during the time they were building these apartments. I knew this was going to happen from day 1. The inmates were counting down the days for it to be done. I can't blame em they're bored and they're just doing what inmates do. The jail was there long before and if you knowingly moved to a luxury apartment next to a jail I cant feel sorry for you. There's nothing the BOP can do because the more you tell inmates not to do something the more they'll do it. If as a CO you stand in the rec yard all day yelling at them to not yell youre gonna get laughed at or beat. Wish this would have been finished while I worked there because at least this gives them something else to holler at other than the female officers.

It is a sentiment; an approach to life- it’s not realism. That’s a given. Life is simple when you imagine the best in people, even when it’s not realistic. We want those prisoners to be their best, to see the potential in themselves- even if they do not, or will not ever see it. That’s why it’s called a “correctional” facility. Is it realistic to believe in the best of human nature? Or should we always assume the worst because it is “realistic.” Of course human nature becomes corrupted - …..but we strive for better everyday. We hope for true evolution. We believe in people - even when they are at their worst. Even when they have messed up. We hope for their progress. Or we will never change, as a humanity.

This is the equivalent to people going on yelp to rate their apartment buildings/complexes in downtown and complained about the homeless population….knowing damn well those people were there when they took the tour AND when they signed the lease to move in.

We have a similar situation in Ft. Lauderdale. Hilton built their hotel directly next to my apt building that they could damn near share the same address. We have to deal with tourists beung confused and invading our apts parking lot and the noise from the pool bar level is beyond loud for us directly next door. There should be some kind of restrictions for building so close together

No resident took a tour of the pool area before buying?? I know it's a high rise...but doesn't that make your views more important to look into before purchase. I've only ever bought single-family homes and I still look into EVERYTHING. Neighborhood, utility service providers, which side the bedrooms are on vs. the common spaces, which side of the house will get more sun etc. Even proximity to businesses or alleyways for safety and odors.
