I was a corrections officer at FDC miami during the time they were building these apartments. I knew this was going to happen from day 1. The inmates were counting down the days for it to be done. I can't blame em they're bored and they're just doing what inmates do. The jail was there long before and if you knowingly moved to a luxury apartment next to a jail I cant feel sorry for you. There's nothing the BOP can do because the more you tell inmates not to do something the more they'll do it. If as a CO you stand in the rec yard all day yelling at them to not yell youre gonna get laughed at or beat. Wish this would have been finished while I worked there because at least this gives them something else to holler at other than the female officers.

I was a CO there. The cells are assigned at random or for difficult inmates whichever cell mate they get along with. They pay each other to do cell swaps but we know that and often don't allow them to swap.

We have a similar situation in Ft. Lauderdale. Hilton built their hotel directly next to my apt building that they could damn near share the same address. I've only ever bought single-family homes and I still look into EVERYTHING. Neighborhood, utility service providers, which side the bedrooms are on vs. the common spaces, which side of the house will get more sun etc. Even proximity to businesses or alleyways for safety and odors.
