I know Portland Oregon gets a lot of shit but in all honesty it’s a really good place to start off by living by yourself independently I just moved there three months ago and it’s a perfect city to be independent and live away from your parents it’s not overwhelming it’s not too uncomfortable you can walk most places or ride a bike it’s great the rain really isn’t the worst thing in the world it’s still a good city and a good place hell it has good coffee good weed and pretty solid food

Lol, thank you for the tip. I'm teaching myself programming atm and would like to get a job to relocate here some day
@adamimperial57292 жыл бұрын
@@NicholasSeemann47 it’s honestly a pretty dope place to start out in your 20s it’s not overwhelming it’s fun you can go into the wilderness and be there all day and then go get some killer food after you don’t feel pressured to meet people all the time I’m typically pretty friendly but I also like my alone time I will say it is expensive to live there but for my money I think it’s pretty worth it I also would definitely suggest getting a car
@NicholasSeemann472 жыл бұрын
@@adamimperial5729 That sounds awesome. Seattle and San Francisco have a lot of jobs with what I want to do, but they're both pretty expensive and I hear that tech is almost dominating the city's culture, I haven't heard of the same thing happening in Portland, plus they're just really expensive in general, even compared to Portland lol. I know you suggested getting a car, but I read that Portland is a really good city for being able to get by on public transit plus walking. Is that not the case?
@adamimperial57292 жыл бұрын
@@NicholasSeemann47 It depends it is good for public transit for me I’m lucky I got a job at the railroad for Amtrak so I get the ride for free tehe if you’re a bike person which I’m not really much of a bike person you could always bike ride around the city which is very accessible I think Poland has a tech culture I’m not sure Seattle obviously does San Francisco is extremely expensive I don’t know what your situation is but at least the good thing is you work in tech and I’m sure you make a good salary so you could probably stretch your budget or get a roommate it depends where you’re coming from also it might be a culture shock to you like it was for me I’m from New York very different type of way of life for me

I moved to Phoenix az 10 yrs ago and I just want to cry watching this video. I haven't felt at home since I left. Portland was MY town. I know it like the back of my hand and I am so lucky to have been born there. It's a shame so many great places have closed down over the years but the current system we all live under does not support small business, so it's inevitable. I can't move back to the constant rain but let me tell you that constant sun sucks a bag and then some. thank you for filming this!

@@johnsanders9989 I was born there and never used one and never got drenched. It happens to be a technique we natives are gifted with. It just comes natural to us! Also, if anything, Portlanders try to be anything but cool. Being cool would just be conforming to what is expected or desired from us and that's just not in our nature even if that means being the anti cool, if you will. But good for you, using your umbrella and I mean that. It's certainly the smart thing to do!
