Wow, a perfect fix. I found a puffer coat for my adult daughter at the thrift store and the sizing is somewhat large now that she has lost weight after having a baby. This has been very helpful for me, I was just going to take in the side seams without opening the lining but you have given me the confidence to do maybe half as good a job as you. I’ll do my best.
@DowntownTailoring
@DowntownTailoring 2 жыл бұрын
That's so nice! And yes, it looks more difficult opening the lining but, after all is easier because you don't need to figure out how to connect seam if you don't open 😉 and not mentioning that your work will look better. Just keep in mind the feathers. You don't want to open the case and let them go 🌨🤪

I love your narration, it's so informative and easy to follow. I've lost weight but trying to not buy new clothes so I wish to alter my puffer coat, especially at the waist, and so this video was really helpful!

I've been a seamstress for 20 years, but I'm still learning something every day. :) Thank you so much for helping me improve on this. My sewing experience is mostly in women's clothing. especially evening and party wear. This week, I received an order for a suit jacket shortener from a client. I looked in your list to see if there is any video about it, but I couldn't see it. I've done it a few times before, but I'd like to learn more technical information. Thank you again for all your amazing info💙🧡💚

Hi here. Thank you so much for your kind words and support. Means a lot to me! I had made a video on shortening a coat and the process is the same. The only difference is how the front is done. I will have to make a video about it, definitely! In the meanwhile, here is the link to that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIHHqX98jLN6g5Y Good luck!

Honestly, I would never undertake such a tedious and difficult job. Would suggest to the customer that she buy a new jacket in a smaller size or just continue to wear her puffer as it is. To me, some jobs are just not worth the effort and no amount of money would make me want to do it. Okay, maybe if I could charge one million dollars, it would be! But, you are an angel to take on such a difficult job!

Yes. I completely understand your point and agree with it to certain degree. I mean, you are totally right from the business perspective but I LOVE to take challenges. Difficult things make me feel good. I know it's a little crazy but, with the time, I find that half of them are really easy to do, and, the other half... well... exactly what you said 😁

tricks can be learned on your own by taking apart tailoring and learning from what you see, so consider yard sales and thrift stores to pick up a few really good tailored items to de-construct.

Awesome video , wow truly amazing. I have a question 🙋‍♀️ why do you mark outside and inside? Isn’t the inside marks the only ones you see when sewing? I’m curious as to what is the reason for the outside marks. Thank you for all your excellent info on doing alterations. 😃
@DowntownTailoring
@DowntownTailoring 2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. You don't need to mark the pins outside. In fact, it is a waste of time. I do it because it gives me self assurance. When I sew and I see that the seam matches somehow the marks, I feel more comfortable with the job I've done. 😉😁

This is awesome you did a perfect job. I know it is more work for you to make these videos but I want you to know I appreciate them so much I could watch you all day. Actually, when I have time on my hands I go back and watch your videos I have watched many times before. Do you do a lot of patches on Motorcycle vests and jackets I have many requests for them. I just bought a new machine it is a Consew 146 RB industrial zig-zag straight stitch machine. I love it so far the other machine I have is a Singer 20 u it is not a walking foot machine. I sew my year number and letters on Letterman Jackets with it. Plus I have other Janome and Babylock machines LOL

@DowntownTailoring 2 жыл бұрын
Congratulations. This is a great machine. I do get some patches request but not too many. Most of the time, the customer and I agree to sew the patches through the lining. I use the same Juki that I prepared for jeans. Cheers 🙂
