Doyle could put strings on a cardboard box and get great music out of it. Just look at any of his videos and he can make any guitar sound good. If there's and fault in it, it's in the guitar and not his playing. Marvelous!

You don't have to play a Gretsch to sound great but it sure doesn't hurt. Gretsch is like a Porsche..if you don't own one you just won't understand. There is no substitute. I was blessed to acquire my first Country Gent in 1965 a used 1960 single cut. Still have her and still am not worthy.
@johnnyrock65769 ай бұрын
That was before Gretsch re-designed the 6122 with a double cutaway body. Looks like a large 6119 Tennessean!

Funny thing is that every time I’ve seen Doyle in the past few years he mostly plays his White Falcon so he really doesn’t need that but then again can you ever have too many Gretsch’ the answer is dno, no you can not have too many Gretsch’!!!!

Doyle always shows the truth from a guitar with Gretsch 59CG , he says at the very end of this video :YOU DON'T NEED THIS - I NEED THIS ! look how he is caring of this one , he really loves it.

This is fantastic. I got to see Doyle play a few times at clinics he did for Taylor Guitars. I would have loved to see him play on a Gretsch like this. Does anyone know the name of the first song he plays in this video? Is it a Chet tune or one of Doyle's songs? I loved it.

Whats wrong with the treble strings Doyle? Are they too close to the neck? They are ringing terribly and hurt your ears.

He's incredible player but he deserves a better guitar. The first e string sounds terrible almost like a sitar

Maurizio De Caro it ‘is’ very distracting. Wonder if it’s an excessively worn “zero-fret.” (Dykes is a beast either way.)
