That makes sense. Lol I’m an Oak in the Celtic birth tree. I had never studied the life of trees in depth. I just always climb them and find one I connect with were ever I travel. However there is one tree that I have to go and see every few years. When there is a major change in my life. She hangs over a pond in Pittsburg Kansas at this park that has aside walk around the pond. I like to go there at night and climb on her and lay down on the large branch that hangs out over the water and fall asleep. Humm maybe that’s why it’s so important to me to have that peace when I fall asleep. You know what I am wrong.. That’s awesome 🤩 It’s not the peace I am looking for when I go to sleep. It’s the connection. The connection between the two. I miss the connection between the in between. I don’t want to be one thing or the other, I want to be both. Lol it seems our Oak tree has a lot to say, which funny enough was the story I chose to read to my son on video while I was in Kuiat passing through while I was deployed 2008/2009 to Iraq. It was the trees story. About how much he loved the young boy through out all of his phases. From climbing his branches to meeting his friends and a girl and even when he got married and stopped coming to him and how happy the tree was to be able to be used to build his house that keep him warm and dry. Wow I had forgotten all about that until.

It is impossible to lose hope. Hope starts exactly after everything else is lost. Once you realize that there is nothing left except some light inside yourself which is whispering you 'keep going until the end and might be this end will look different from what you are in now and as you going keep lifting others who fall. If no - let it be so. I must be sure I did everything I even could not'. Thank you Master 🙏

Great interview. Many pearls of wisdom regarding challenges, growth, compassion, authenticity. Great comment about using the body to discipline and increase awareness in the mind. This is key in martial arts as well as any physical practice like yoga asana, imo. Interesting to me the relationship of yoga philosophy and kung fu. Bodhidarma brought Zen Buddhism from India to the Shaolin temple and taught the physical practices that developed into Shaolin kung fu. 🙏

Thanks Doug! For me it was the first time learning about the way of the Shaolin and it resonated a lot. Actually, it made me feel more comfortable with some of my ways of thinking... for example, I agree 100% that you cannot transform without suffering.

This is good! Is it written in the stars ⭐️ , what if you want a different path? Can you make different? I do now the career I started 10 years ago! Full circle all the way back, I was in a job already and they see me working and ask me to do something different.. said all in the charity organization agreed almost at the same time that I was perfect for the role.. it was my name and that’s it.. its chosen me again.. not me choosing, I know it aligns well now, because it feels like I now have something inside that’s unlocked that I didn’t realise was missing 🙏⭐️

wow I’m just listening 7 min and I started to contemplate on the word “co-incidence”. Then you started talking about german, I’m from belgium and in dutch its the same word “toeval” . Before listening to your answer i paused to write this and i’m guessing you gonna translate it to: “close falling”.
@itszoltan7 ай бұрын
yes, same in german. "zufall"... actually i only realized this because of this interview.

there is a book by milan kundera: de ondraaglijke lichtheid van het bestaan. please translate it with chat gpt or so. I never read the book but saw the movie when I was too young but there is an sentence: de schoonheid van het toeval. It sticks with me and made me contemplating on “toeval”. now i contemplated on the word coincidence I see the word translated back to english: Together-things that happened. Is coincidence just a by-factor of not realising with focus or awareness the obvious circumstance.

Curious to hear more about how we each have something unique to contribute because “we have each suffered uniquely…”
@itszoltan3 ай бұрын
You can replace the word "suffering" with learning or problem solving. Within the context of being a teacher or a guide what this means (based on how I interpret Shifu's words) is that your suffering as made you stronger and you have overcome this suffering somehow, otherwise you would not be here. This means you have learned how to overcome your own suffering, you have gained experience and expertise in solving this problem. You can now help others overcome this problem and this suffering by simply sharing how you have overcome it.
