Dozens of Ambulances & Hundreds of EMTs at a Rally To Save The New Jersey EMT Training Fund

Several clips of Ambulances and EMTs from all over New Jersey at a rally to save the New Jersey EMT Training Fund, on May 7, 2009, at 6:00 pm in Morristown, New Jersey.
Unprecedented footage of dozens of ambulances driving with lights flashing, and sirens and air-horns blaring!
Note: before making comments about how this protest left areas without coverage and cost taxpayers money please consider the following:
A) There was one ambulance per service present. Most squads have at least one spare ambulance. No areas were left without adequate EMS coverage.
B) These were all VOLUNTEER squads. No one was paid for their time at the event. The millions of dollars saved by the volunteers well overshadows the slight amount of fuel used to go to the protest.
C) The money taken from the training fund, which eventually happened, means that squads have to pay for any non-required training, meaning most squads will think twice before sending anyone for extra training. It certainly makes sense to attend a rally to try to save the fund.

2:07... St Johns EMS From Fords NJ. Its the Rescue 3 rig. It has a badass hydralic extrication unit in the rear compartment. Too bad they are going to lose their building due to the "imminent domain". Alot of volunteer squads are suffering because of money issues. And also the corruption of the towns City Halls (not to mention names WOODBRIDGE!!!!) Such a good squad cause I was a part of it. BIG UP to St Johns and hope they can continue their services!!

just this year I filmed at a MCI drill in Frankfurt, there they had 250 "victims" - two years before they even had 500 victims - you can imagine the amount of fire trucks and ambulances responding

@beEasy2011 I see that you mean, and by the sight of it, I can totally understand your perspective. The actuality of it is, they are providing a service at a cost that is a tiny fraction of what it would be if they were 'Full paid Municipal.' I'm not from that area but I would guess that plenty of those Ambulances were purchased through Volunteer's fundraising. I'm also sure that they arranged for adequate coverage for the districts represented during the rally.

All in all Volunteer EMT's deserve the money cause it was theirs to start with for one and save the state over 35million a year by doing what paid services do for FREE! Volunteer First Aid squads dont charge for their services so they save the residents of NJ tax money and money out of pocket. Im 21 year old Volunteer EMT on the short end of the stick and knows the facts about what was going on from being on the NJFAC (New Jersey First Aid Council). (PART 3)

Which means Volunteer EMTs will have to pay out of pocket to take classes to keep their cert which most cant afford so they will lose their EMT. The rest of the money will end up going to fund actual EMT classes(for new EMTs). Which means the state will have to pick up the slack with paid services that will cost the state and tax payers over 35million a year. (PART 2)

@beEasy2011 What you don't realize is that the vast majority of those Ambulances are staffed, maintained, and managed by VOLUNTEERS!! The same Volunteers that are the only ones in that region available to respond to YOUR emergency, all of those folks are rallying for the EMT training fund. By the way, "Volunteer" is a term that does not do them justice, for they pay money out of their own pocket (for fuel to drive to shift, to eat during shift, and not to mention THEIR time).

actually I'm not making things up bucko. I'm a licensed EMT for the state of michigan. I've worked for non profit agencies as a manager so I know for a fact we got NO tax money at all to help us out. In fact one of the ambulance companies I worked for closed because they couldn't make ends meet being non profit and no state funding. Now take that to the bank
