Seems odd to put those terraces on such flat ground...?? Where I’m at the only places you see terraces is fields with big changes in elevation over short distances to cut down on erosion. I don’t see washout being a big problem there. Which would explain why your able to cut them out!

I’m really not sure either, the field did have some slope to it but nothing crazy. Anyhow it was a paying job👍🏼
