A general note:
I have been involved in the 'Dog World' for over 30+ years, having bred Rottweilers and Belgian Malinois and have had my own Specialist Security Dog Services business in the past and although now retired from day to day duties I remain interested through my brother who still is very much involved in the training and assessing both working K9's and their handlers in the UK security world. I have also been involved in logistics and truck driving for 30 years and my hobbies are tropical fish keeping, motorcycles and cars.
I still own a small pack of dogs with their quantity changing as the years roll on.

Is it the same procedure if u have to drop or pick up a box at no 3 area. Also do u have to go through pre gate if u have a box for pentalvers or solent stevedores

Yes for area 3, then you book in at area 3 as you would in the other areas. When dropping off at Solent or Pentalver you would go direct to them first and if you had a container collection after on the docks you would go to pre gate as normal to book in. I believe the system is a little different from when I made the video but in general it’s the same.

@ thanks for that. I really appreciate your help. I’m starting doing containers next week. So if I’m dropping off a box and picking up one too. Would my VBN number cover both boxes. Or would I have to get one by taken off then go back to pre gate for another slot. It’s all new to me.

The information is given to you when you book in at the pre gate kiosk and at each kiosk as you travel around the different transfer areas, by inputting your reg number as requested at each kiosk you are virtually tracked as to where you are and if you are in the correct area, if you are in any doubt or you make a mistake just get in touch with customer service by pressing the button on the kiosk’s or go to the pre gate office (which is at the first building on your left as you get to pre gate barriers) just drive around the building on your left and park in one of the 3 (I think) bays and walk over and ask for help. It can be daunting at first but once you’ve done it a few times you will wonder what all the fuss was about😁 just break the docks down into small pieces ie; only the places you need at each time of delivery or collection matter, so all the other stuff going on doesn’t really affect you, all the trucks whizzing around and the places you are not going to visit don’t matter and it makes the docks feel smaller and easier to manage.

Great video, very helpful for first-timers. What's the process for returning empty containers?

Now that depends on where they are going and you will find that out A) from your transport office if it’s not in the Port itself ie: Solent or Pentalver or other B) if it’s to be tipped on the Docks, then your information will be found at the terminal/kiosk/screens as you put your reference number in and the location could be a few places, 1) where you get your container put on your skelly trailer 2) at the empty container part of the yard 3) or at TA 3 or as mentioned, Solent or Pentalver or whoever. I do have videos showing some of the locations, please take a look to give you an idea as to where and how?👍🏻 good luck 🤞🏻

Hi again, i have a nother question: How do you know what size container you are collecting?

It tells you on, depending on which port you are collecting from, either on ticket if they give them, or on screen if not, also your transport office will know as they have all the information with the booking reference numbers. 👍🏻
