What a great revealing of Vallée's process and Matthew McConaughey's appreciation of it. No wonder such great actors were such fans. Beyond sad to hear Jean-Marc Vallée has passed away so young at 58 on Dec 26, 2021. And to think of the stories Vallée didn't yet get to tell. He had me at C.R.A.Z.Y. and just continued on from there. His pre-Hollywood movies are totally worth the search. C.R.A.Z.Y. from 2005 is hard to find because of the rights to a most incredible soundtrack, but you'll understand why Hollywood discovered him with this film. And Café de Flore from 2011 is so worth finding too. And then of course Dallas Buyers Club, and all of the work after that. Such a gifted storyteller who will be greatly missed.

It's amazing how this style of interview really frees up the interviewees to just...talk and really discuss their film and reminisce upon making it. It's almost like a therapy session.

The movie is good, a bit formulaic and predictable. But McConaughey's and Leto's performances are outstanding.

Dementia Boy In fact, I think it was the performance of the two protagonists what made this film cool.

visually, it wasn't a particularly good looking film. it's nice how they managed to pull it off despite their constraints.
