Casting “couch” indeed. David Kross isn’t gay. We all know how Hollywood loves to take advantage of young actors. I hope David did not succumb to that or wasn’t given an “ultimatum” to be given the role. Hopefully strong parental supervision in these situations. David is darling. Easy to fall in love with him.

So he always wanted to work primarily with German actors, why didn't they just make the movie in German? Seems odd that the kid had to learn English in order to play a German.

Marketing move: Producing the film in English gave it a much bigger market. That = more $$. Still, it would have been interesting if they could have also made a German language version of it, with *Winslett* and Fiennes et al having to learn German.

I mean they better do the movie in English, they're are part of the cast that can't speak German, and if you will say that why don't just pick other actors who can speak German, the author of The Reader wants Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes to play Hanna and Old Michael
