DPR IAN ‘SKINS (Demo)’ MV reaction | The way he pours himself out there is so powerful

God. I'm early. Anyway, he says "MITO' at the beginning because this was all made by Mito, the video included. For background, you probably already know but it's believed that DID originates from severe and/or repeated chldhood trauma particularly before age 5. Mito is a 'protector alter' because he's the one who takes over during very stressful times to protect Ian and he's the only one who knows the trauma that is the root of his DID. In those times Ian blacks out and when he comes back he doesn't remember anything that was said or done by Mito. Then he usually finds product like songs that he doesn't remember ever making. Basically his life has been lived and he doesn't know how. Ian is the prominent identity, the one who is most of the time in control of the mind/body, called the 'host'. About Skins, this is not exactly part of any storyline. It contains Mito's thoughts about holding their traumas for so long. It's basically a letter from Mito to Ian. Ian came back after a 2-day black out and found the song written and produced, the video already done all by Mito. It is the first time that Ian allowed himself to show to the world Mito's true feelings and not just how he is through Ian's eyes. Mito is usually shown as a dark, almost mythical/villainous figure that Ian repels and can't accept as a part of himself. This is probably because in DID protectors (Mito) can also punish the hosts (Ian). As I've said In real life, Ian until now doesn't know what trauma is the root of his DID, only Mito does. Mito, in order to protect Ian, usually punishes him if he ever goes looking to know about the trauma. As a child, this serves as a protection mechanism so they can block their traumatic experiences from their memories. “Skins” (demo) in a way feels like the humanization of a "villain" by giving him a voice. Ian choosing to release a 100% Mito creation instead of burying it like he always does was an important step towards their relationship and acceptance as parts of a whole 'system' (how someone with DID may refer to themselves). You talked about interviews. Have you seen the Say What Reacts interview? It's incredible! His best interview to date. But I recommend to watch his MVs first before watching it. I actually made a PDF talking about his storyline and this text about Skins is part of it. 😮 woahhh, thanks for this extensive explanation! I haven’t watched that interview yet! I’ve also heard of MITO taking over and completing a song/video but I didn’t know that it was SKINS! Now, my appreciation for MITO and Ian (and his whole system) is even greater! I wanna thank MITO and Ian for sharing this deeply personal moment, I’m glad that they were able to put this out there. I will definitely watch MITO Movie. I’ve also seen that Ian wanted to make MITO 3? And want to make at least an hour of purely movie. Can you shed light on this?
