Judaism got confused by verses 9 and 10 because there is no direct statement in Zechariah that there is going to be a roughly 2000 year gap between these verses. However, we have the benefit of hindsight.

Dear Dr. Baruch, In Zechariah 9:13, and also in the book of Daniel and Joel, the term 'Grecia/Greece' is a mistranslation of the term 'Javan/Yavan' (the name of Noah's grandson whose descendents occupied predominantly the coastal regions that are presently occupied by Turkey 🇹🇷. Turkey 🇹🇷 and its top political leaders are depicted as a series of horns on the goat 🐐 in Daniel chapter 8, and therefore the goat 🐐 depicts Turkey 🇹🇷. Daniel 8:21 defines the horns on the goat 🐐 as the 'kings' (top political leaders) of 'Grecea/Greece'. However, the term 'Grecea/Greece' is a mistranslation of the term 'Javan/Yavan' who was Noah's grandson, and whose descendents occupied the geographical region that is presently occupied predominantly by Turkey 🇹🇷. The geographical region that is identified in the Bible text as Grecea/Greece (mistranslation of Noah's grandson Javan/Yavan), is in perfect harmony with the land of Magog, Mischeck, Tubal, Gomer, and Togarmah in Ezekiel 38:1-6 because the above-named Noah's grandsons and Noah's great-grandson Torgamah, also occupied the region that is presently occupied by none other than Turkey 🇹🇷. It should be noted that the descendents of Noah's two sons Shem and Japheth, who include the descendents of Noah's grandsons Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Javan, Gomer, etc, will not be the aggressors against the State of Israel 🇮🇱 because, except for the people in Armenia 🇦🇲 and Georgia 🇬🇪, the descendents of Noah's son Japheth have been forced to flee their land in ancient Anatolia when they were unprovokingly attacked by the Turkic people who mostly came from the steppes around the Caspian Sea, and invaded ancient Anatolia in around the 11th century AD, and thereby forcing the descendents of Noah's sons Shem and Japheth, together with many descendents of the northern 10-tribe Kingdom of Israel who were first taken as captives into Assyria, and also many descendents of the southern 2-tribe Kingdom of Judah (a.k.a. Jews) who fled into Anatolia, because of intense persecution by the Islamic armies from AD 622 onwards, to flee into Europe, including eastern Europe. That is how Turkey 🇹🇷 (descendents of Heth/Hittites) came to occupy ancient Anatolia in Asia Minor; i.e. they dispossessed the descendents of Noah's son Japheth and others who were the rightful owners of the land in Anatolia. (Source: Chronicles by Matthew of Edessa) Therefore, the Antichrist will not originate from Europe because, except for the indigenous people, the people in Europe are predominantly the descendents of Noah's two sons Shem and Japheth (but not Ham), and they are also the descendents of Jacob-Israel who were taken captive from the Promised Land into Assyria (~741-676 BC), and Babylonia (~597 BC and ~586 BC), and then 'scattered' (dispersed) from to the 'ends of the earth' including Europe, Britain 🇬🇧, Ireland 🇮🇪, Russia 🇷🇺, North America (i.e. USA 🇺🇸, Canada 🇨🇦, Mexico 🇲🇽), the Latin nations in South America, Australia 🇦🇺, New Zealand 🇳🇿, and a few others. (Isaiah 49:1-12; Amos 9:9; Acts 2:5-9; James 1:1; 1 Peter 1:1; and more than 100 other passages of scripture in the Bible) Remember that God promised to enlarge Japheth, and his descendents will 'dwell in the tents of Shem' (i.e. the two will be integrated in the same community, share the same values, etc) (Genesis 9:27). The Turkic people (includes the majority of people in Turkey 🇹🇷) descended predominantly from Heth (Hittites) who was one of the sons of Ham's evil son Canaan, and the grandson of Noah's evil son Ham (Genesis 9:20-27; 10:1-20). Notice that the Antichrist (depicted as the 'little horn' in Daniel 8:9) will also originate from Turkey 🇹🇷 (depicted as the goat 🐐 and identified as Grecea/Greece, which is a mistranslation of Javan/Yavan). In Daniel 8:2-7, the top political leaders of the Kurd-Iran 🇮🇷 coalition of forces are depicted as two unevenly-sized horns on the ram 🐏, and the two horns on the ram 🐏 are defined as Media (Kurds) and Persia (Iran 🇮🇷) in Daniel 8:20. However, the Kurd-Iran 🇮🇷 coalition will also include other nations such as Afghanistan, Tajikistan 🇹🇯 and several other, albeit not all, 'stan' nations whose lands were once occupied by the ancient Media and Persia. The Kurd-Iran 🇮🇷 coalition (depicted as the bear-like 🐻 beast in Daniel 7:5, and as the ram 🐏 in Daniel 8:2-4) will attack and invade Iraq 🇮🇶 (depicted as the lion-like 🦁 beast in Daniel 7:4, and alluded to by the word 'westward' in Daniel 8:4 from the geographical reference point of Sushan (present day Susa) and river Ulai in Iran 🇮🇷 (located west of the Zagros Mountains and north of the Persian Gulf); and will also attack and invade Syria 🇸🇾, Jordan 🇯🇴, Lebanon 🇱🇧, Gaza, and the entire Arabian Peninsula!!! (Isaiah 13:1-22; 17:1-2; 21:1-17; Jeremiah 48-49; and elsewhere). However, they will not attack the Sate of Israel 🇮🇱 or Egypt 🇪🇬. Turkey 🇹🇷 (depicted as the first horn on the goat 🐐 in Daniel 8:5-7) will swiftly counterattack and defeat the Kurd-Iran 🇮🇷 coalition of forces (depicted as the ram 🐏 in Daniel 8:5-7). The first top political leader of Turkey 🇹🇷 (depicted as the first horn on the goat 🐐 in Daniel 8:5-8, and likely to be the current President Erdoğan of Turkey 🇹🇷), will be replaced by four (4) top political leaders from Turkey 🇹🇷 (depicted as four (4) heads on the leopard-like 🐆 beast in Daniel 7:6, and as four (4) horns on the goat 🐐 in Daniel 8:8), will establish an Islamic Caliphate in the Middle East, which will be composed of four (4) divisions (depicted as four (4) wings on the leopard-like 🐆 beast in Daniel 7:6, and as four (4) winds of heaven in Daniel 8:8, and as four kingdoms in Daniel 8:22). From one of the four (4) top political leaders of Turkey 🇹🇷 (depicted as four (4) horns on the goat 🐐 in Daniel 8:8), will arise the Antichrist (depicted as the 'little horn' on the dreadful and exceedingly strong beast in Daniel 7:7-8, as as the 'little horn' on the goat 🐐 in Daniel 8:9). The Antichrist from Turkey 🇹🇷 will first first confirm the covenant of peace with the State of Israel 🇮🇱 (Daniel 9:27), which will time-mark the beginning of the last seven lunar year period (or 2,520 days) of the current age, which is commonly known as Daniel's 70th week. This will initiate the construction of the third Temple of God on the hillock of Ophel (which was the threshing floor of Ornan (a.k.a. Araunah) the Jebusute) and is the 'holy place' in Matthew 24:15. The first half of Daniel's 70th week (or the first 1,260 days) will be unprecedented peaceful for the Western nations of the world (i.e. the descendents of Jacob-Israel), which will lull them into a false sense of security for a period of 3.5 lunar years (1,260 days). However, in the 'middle' of Daniel's 70th, the Antichrist from Turkey 🇹🇷 will renege on the covenant of peace with the State of Israel 🇮🇱, and the 'covenant of peace' will become the 'covenant of death' for not only the State of Israel 🇮🇱, but also for the other Western nations of the world who are predominantly the descendents of the northern 10-tribe Kingdom of Israel, as distinct from the southern 2-tribe Kingdom of Judah (a.k.a. Jews). The Antichrist from Turkey 🇹🇷 is also identified as the 'cruel lord' and 'fierce king' in Isaiah 19:4, and as the 'vile person' and the 'king of the north' in Daniel 11:21-45, who will attack and invade Egypt 🇪🇬 whose top political leader is identified as the 'king of the south' in Daniel ch. 11.
