Dr. Belinda Lennerz completed medical school at Friedrich Alexander University in Germany in 2005. She did her pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital from 2006-2009, followed by a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital from 2009-2011 and 2014-2015.
Dr. Lennerz spent three years from 2011-2014 at Ulm University to obtain credentialing in pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology in Germany and acquire focused training in obesity. She has joined the endocrine division at Boston Children’s Hospital after finishing her fellowship in 2015.
Dr. Lennerz research focus is on understanding cerebral mechanisms that regulate food intake and energy homeostasis in obesity and type one diabetes. Past and recent projects focus on how these brain circuits can be modified by metabolic signaling in relation to food intake.

I believe 6 month, or even 3 month, dietary RCTs would show clear and marked benefits. 130 days into a carnivore diet, my bloods have been transformed, significant weight loss, 50 points lost on blood pressure, resting heart rate down 10 beats, LDL increased, low trigs, good HDL, etc.

I remitted my diabetes and improved all my other blood markers in three months just by going low carb. I'm also an LDL hyper responder, with low trigs and high HDL. Are you aware that the LMHR trial will be putting out an interim report soon due to the results they have seen? They are also starting new trials for regular LDL hyper responders. And the great thing is that it's been crowd funded so no big money making industries involved.

Now I am watching the presenter and reading the charts. I stopped at the point where there was no change reported in eye conditions as I can self report my eye condition got better. T2D for 27 years. Male 58 years old. Started low carb November 2021. A1C BP and weight dropped drastically. Dropped 7 meds including 2 insulins. No CPAP needed for sleeping. Energy level is much higher and most importantly my mental health is much better in all fronts. I am not living in my dark side of my mind anymore. It could be just me but I happily live my life and my CGM agrees with me.

My N=1 study of me shows that the only way to control T1D (me for the past 40 years) is a zero carb diet and the smallest amount of insulin to maintain a HbA1C around 5.4%…. IU cannot imagine why anyone would put a T1D on any eating regime that includes carbs… there is absolutely no nutritional requirement to eat carbs and any glucose the body needs it can make as required…. Cos if carbs were required then I shroud be dead. And so far I’m not…

Dr. Lennerz's answer at 51:00 sounds just right. There's as much or more prima facie reason to expect less eating disorders on a carnivore diet... by freeing a type 1 kid to just eat and not constantly monitor their navigation of a truly toxic mix of foods that aren't suited to their condition.

I've been a T1 Diabetic my entire life. The standard American Diet, has been a nightmare for me to maintain, as I'm now 64 years of age with this disease... I've been on a carnivore diet for 6 years now, and it's the only thing, I've found that works! My Ha1c is 4.9, and I take only insulin for meds. My docs, have been not any help at all! They think, I'm nuts and should be on numerous stations, and drugs, and I feel fine. I've never really had a weight problem but I weigh in at 122 lbs, at 5'5"". This disease was hell when I was vegan many years ago, and the ADHD was rampant! The healthcare system is broken, and doesn't focus on health at all! They can all go to Hell!

No on so many points. First the fear mongering about hypoglycemia if one goes for tight control. Diet is everything for a diabetic. The foremost expert is Dr. Richard Bernstein 97. A type 1 diabetic who has no significant end organ damage. Low carb high animal fat diet is the way. And until doctors wake up & acknowledge the cholesterol heart hypothesis is wrong, and statins cause CAD & heart failure, we doctors are public enemy number one. We are maintaining chronic illness not curing it. The fear of hypoglycemia is foolish. Diabetic should be seen as alcoholics. You don’t promote alcoholics drinking. Why do we promote sugar consumption in diabetics? Sugar is nonessential, the body will make what it needs. A diabetic should consume minimal or no sugar. A type one should look at keeping one’s daily insulin intake around 18! The standard approach to diabetics chasing their sugar with medication or insulin is insane. Assuming the patient is too ignorant to learn is wrong. Dr. Ginge Thank you Dr. Richard Bernstein

About 15 years ago my husband had 3 strokes. We found out he was diabetic. 180 pounds type 2. Put him on the diet they gave me. Bloodwork every 3 week. Always worse, as was he. Weight 210. I read Good Calories, Bad Calories. Watched The Oiling of America. Went with the old 1950s British diet in the prologue of Good Calories. His next bloodwork improved and kept getting better. Several months later a stranger understood him. His weight returned to 180.

Okay, yes, type 2 is associated with obesity. But it's not caused by it. Type two can be caused by the types of food we consume. We know sugar and especially vegetable oil can literally cause type two diabetes. There are medications that cause diabetes. The strongest correlation is between roundup herbicide and type two diabetes. More than half of us do gain weight when we consume carbohydrates, but almost half of us don't. So, the association between diabetes and high BMI is irrelevant. 19:01 For type one diabetes, the closest association is with a particular class of drugs that is again "literally" designed to cause auto immunity. 19:08

I know a carnivore diet is by far the best. And any other diet is substandard. I know a vegan diet is extremely unhealthy, and I would never conduct a randomized control study of a vegan versus carnivore diet. That is how I feel, even though I've heard that same excuse too many times from the plant-based crowd. And others in the medical field. Why do a study when you think you already have all the answers? The answer is when you want to force your belief on someone else. Yes, we would like to help and even persuade others, but we have no need or inclination to force our will on them.

Is there a reason why there is not a large scale vegan study? is it because they are afraid of the health outcomes of the participants? With any study, if a person is having bad reactions, they can measure on a regular basis, see any changes in health and change their course or action or have them drop out. There are large studies ( Not self reported surveys, but actually controlled studies) on Low Carb and Carnivore, as well as other varied mixed diet, but none on vegan way of eating. What are the barriers to that happening? Someone tried to blast me by throwing a NCIB article at me about how keto causes liver damage or something. It was a single lady, not a controlled study, a sick lady who came in for observation and advice, she was already sick with various issues when she presented, was told to lose weight, tried keto on her own, had worse health markers and was chastized and told to follow a heart healthy diet, along with a slew of medications. Therefore Keto causes Liver Failure in everyone. They didn't respond when I steered them toward a more recent study 2 years more recent where at least 10 peopel who already had liver damage were shown to have improvements in liver function following a prescribed keto diet for the study. 10 against 1 is not fair is it?
