I think it is a very interesting question to ask how fiction can bring about change in people's lives, as well as to ask how fiction can be more effective than non-fiction in achieving this task. I look forward to reading "The Yellow Wall-paper" to see how this might be possible. I also think it is very ironic that Gilman wrote this to save people from insanity or depression, whereas it was criticized as driving people insane.

After watching these video's and reading The Yellow Wallpaper. I believe non-fictional books and views are way more effective in showing meaning and achieving a goal. Readers feel more connected because it's real. You truly care for characters and the story because you know it happened and can always have a re-occurrence and happen again. I believe a reader with similar problems to the main character will truly understand whats actually going on and trying to be conveyed.

You know the first time I read this story I seriously thought the "Yellow Wallpaper" hides the secret of what's going on in this house. I was hoping she'd say: "I see him [that is, her husband] in the wallpaper" because the stains and horror might be that he's cheating on her. Though he could be cheating on her outside of the house, I think he's sleeping with her sister behind her back. The torn parts of the wallpaper might represent on a literal level the passion between them. But then again, who am I say? -O-

+maricel marmolejos The woman had severe Postpartum Depression (After giving birth). However, in the 19th century, men were superior. Her husband , a doctor diagnosed her condition was Anxiety/ Nervous and didn't listen to her how bad this condition was. She wanted to be free rather being trapped.
