The reason Adam & Eve, hid was because they knew that they had sinned by disobeying God's specific instructions & because they had eaten the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good & evil. People who are in rebellion, proud, arrogant, wanting to be God without God, will most definitely want to hide from Him! I'm sad that your early Church experience was so bad Baxter, but you must not continue to allow your own personal, emotional hang-ups to poison the full & balanced, Biblical truth of the teaching about God !!! The triune God is truly MAGNIFICENT !!!Holy, Loving, Gracious, Righteous, Compassionate, Tender & He hates Sin, because it separates us from Him & in our pride humanity spits at the finished work of Jesus Christ. The incredible sacrifice He gave by dying on the cross & rising again so that every person can be included in His Redemption for them, if they so desire. Will humanity humble themselves & come back under His wonderful, loving Lordship? Of course God wants us to be with Him in fellowship & incredible peace & joy with them in Heaven! The amazingly sloppy, unBiblical & unbalanced teaching that you continue to teach, would fill any true believer with a righteous anger! He is the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the Alpha & Omega, Father, Brother, Shepherd, Friend, The Rock, the Door, the Light, Creator, Son of Man, Emmanuel, Redeemer, Spirit, First and Last the Lion & the Lamb, Master, Lord, the Way, the Truth & the Life, the Wine, Bread & Bridegroom, Son of God, I AM, Jehovah, Saviour, Judge, the Cornerstone, the Vine, Deliverer, the Morning Star, Jesus, Rabbi !!! He is Majestic, humble your knees & bow before Him, for HE IS HOLY !!!

Baxter Kruger and the early church reveal the True God of perfect love who is of such noble and perfect character that you can completely trust Him (same as the Father revealed by Jesus in the Prodigal Son parable). The deity typically expounded by the western church, based in the distorted teachings of Augustine and further distorted by Calvin does not possess noble character and simply cannot be trusted due to the flawed, schizophrenic nature that deity ostensibly possesses. The Prodigal Son does not even fit in the model presented by the prevailing Western theology. Neither does this verse: For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. 2 Cor 5:19 Further, the prevailing western theology clearly elevates Adam above Christ, for Adam brought condemnation to ALL while Jesus was only able to save a few. What an outrage against the creator and sustainer of ALL creation who prayed forgiveness over his murderers .... who promised to search for the lost sheep UNTIL He found it .... Who holds the keys of death and hell (what would He do with those keys based on His true character -> set the captives free - NOT eternally torture them). The prevailing western theology is insane and has caused the insanity of millions of pathetic souls.

The reason they hid is because they had fallen and actually believed love had room for punishment in it at all. They believed a lie. Holiness has nothing to do with moral perfection. Love does not lord it over anyone.
