Fantastic job, guys! So many Hams have no idea of the depth and breadth of HRD! I have used it since way before you bought it and I can't imagine operating Ham Radio without it!

Old guy here and not as techie as once was, but love what you showed, and want to get mine running. A trial a couple years ago never did work, but new pc, and viola... I "think" I have it working, at least the beginning of a complete setup. Thanks for the vid !!🙂

Please.keep these up. I especially like your "live" idea, of course winter is coming in the states so a Fireside Chat appropriate. I think showcasing the HRDAlert, which I just learned of, interacting with radio control and log book, might be a great topic, but the interaction is critical. For instance, SDRPlay does this very effectively. De WO8USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

A thought; in each module could there be a save "current window space" function, so that you could save how the windows were configured/layed out at the time, and accompanying this a "best practice" window configuration, i.e. the configuration that the HRD team would use. You showed one or two screen layouts in say DM780 and satellite tracking that I would like to be able to load, but I would like to be able to save my layout configuration that I might have made so that I can reload it if I want to. Thanks - Terry p.s. I know that you can do this in HRD Logbook, however, the ability to restore/load to "default/best practice" would be good there as well?!

I have used HRD but always thought it was an overkill, screens are too busy and since reverted to Log4OM.
@HamRadioDeluxe
@HamRadioDeluxe Жыл бұрын
It's not overkill when you consider that you're otherwise adding several other software applications in and trying to get them all configured... whereas this is integrated out-of-the-box and there's support available for it when operators need help.

@@HamRadioDeluxe Agree to disagree, by the way I have a full registered version of the software, and as I said, if there was a compact version of HRD maybe I might use it but all I need a a good logging software.

Feature request: a working CW interface. CWSkimmer works well, when you can get it to run, which isn't very often. It would be nice if HRD had a reliable interface for CW with less than 60% error rate in decoding. Since you're reading this, I thought I would put this out: in spite of the fact that I have a very fast computer (quad core I7, 3.2 GHz, 32 GB RAM), when HRD Logbook is active, the computer spends around 70% of the time showing the hourglass. This means that commands can't be entered into the system during that time. It is very difficult to switch HRD Alert to "ON" when the cursor isn't responsive most of the time. That wasn't the case on your demo machine, so I'm thinking there must be something wrong with my setup. Any hints would be appreciated. The current setup was done by HRD.
@HamRadioDeluxe
@HamRadioDeluxe Жыл бұрын
We're absolutely going to work on CW decoding to improve it. As for the other topic you're referring to, there's an article on our support site and blog regarding the slow performance of Access. I go through a process for building a new database there. That's most likely what you're seeing. As mentioned in the newsletter, the elimination of Access is our current development focus.

Hello, when i log a qso, the CQ zone will not be adopted to the log and so i cannot see it in the award trackings. please can you help me, thanks 73 Martin
@HamRadioDeluxe
@HamRadioDeluxe Жыл бұрын
CQ Zones (and other location information) gets added to the log when the information can be found in the lookup source. I'd have to know what lookup source you're using and what callsign you're adding to advise on this.

I run a DX Cluster for POTA/SOTA/WWFF/IOTA spots only, and HRD thinks that some CW frequencies are Digital. No way to override that. :(
@HamRadioDeluxe
@HamRadioDeluxe Жыл бұрын
DX Clusters do not have a field to convey mode. So the only remaining method is to use the standard band plan (which is also what DX cluster software will do). When stations are operating outside the standard band plan, you can see this happen.
@n1rbd
@n1rbd Жыл бұрын
@@HamRadioDeluxe How about allowing users to customize the band plan? SOTA/POTA CW is routinely found on 7.060-7.064, yet HRD translates 7.061 as Digi. I've NEVER heard Digi in that range since I've been operating CW for almost 3 years. If it's not possible to allow users to customize the software, perhaps it's time to abandon the obsolete band plan (which is not binding) and start basing it on actual real-world usage.
