I did this today. I haven't countersunk the arrows yet, but the foam mods worked great. Let me assure you, this makes a WORLD of difference. I urge anyone who has access to a machine whose operator will allow it to give it a try! Thanks so much, Dr. D!

thank you very much, glad it helped you out a lot. I might be making a bonus mod video in the near future with some new techniques I learned.

Please do! I am still trying to get a few arrows to not feel "mushy", but any more help would be great!

just fyi, tape on top of the corner rubber supports decreases sensitivity very slightly because the panel cannot flex as much. but i do agree that it helps the overall feel. i noticed this only because i had an under-sensitive sensor in one of my panels & removing this added material on top of the rubber supports fixed the issue.
@AnayranPinheirodeAzevedo10 жыл бұрын
Dr. D, if the pad is too old, you can cut part of the rubber who holds the sensors at the point where the sensor bracket goes, let only some rubber to still holding the sensor properly. Doing this you can improve a lot the sensibility of the pad! Hope you try and approve that!

I just got a DDR Supernova machine and i plan to do this!!!!!! thank you.

it will feel like the metal bits stop coming off and the drill speed will be smooth and consistent. Its also a good idea to do it for a while then check it.

Haha, I wouldn't delete that last bit. It's funny. Never the less, I do have a question. When you are countersinking, and you re-did it, I thought the attachment would stop it going too far. When you hold it down firmly, how do you know when its actually done?

How thick are the foam tape's you're using?

DDR pads are one of the easiest thing to take care of in an arcade, I wish that all arcade mangers would realize this.

I watched all three parts and followed your advice on brackets and foam modding and swapping sensor spots but my sensors are still very undersensitive. I also tried the business card under the bracket trick and they're still pretty bad, at what point do I buy new sensors?

Thanks for the video ! I was just wondering if that maintenance also work in DDR X2's recent machines (bigger screen and different dancepad that i have mostly seen in japanese DDR videos with Brosoni and Rin-go!) Thanks for a reply !

Hey there! Love these videos, I have one question though. The pads at my local arcade tend to trigger adjacent pads pretty frequently. (on both sides) So for example pressing on the down arrow tends to trigger the left arrow around 40% of the time. What may be a remedy to this? thanks!

I wish my arcade would let me clean the pads, they never clean it themselves and I highly doubt they'd allow me to do that no matter how well they know me there lol.

These videos are great, but I've just gotta ask... How the heck did you manage to get your hands on an arcade machine?!

Is this actually the channel for an arcade? That would kind of make sense then! (You'll have to pardon the fact that I couldn't tell, most of the shots that I saw looked like they were in a basement or something, I'm guessing then that it's a back-room for maintenance maybe?). Still, I wasn't aware that there were too many of those left in existence, I was under the impression that they didn't even make them any more.

Where can I get new brackets, my machine is missing a few actually. Any recommendations?

try channelbeat or coinoexpress

I can tell you by experience that cordless drills were not a good idea. I didn't have a corded drill. Anyhow, I'm not sure if it helps, but when I countersunk my brackets, I sprayed some WD40 on it. It certainly helped with stopping all the metal bits flying about.

Gosh i just checked videos of Japanese DDR players and it seems they use the same dancepad as you. But do you know what kind of dancepad I am talking about?

I don't have access to that type of drill.. :c Would it be possible for me to send you the brackets from my machine and you perform that for me? Please let me know, would greatly appreciate it and pay for the service. Thanks!

Got a chance to watch the vid. I have a corded drill, you'd just have to get me the bit :D

It would be extremely hard to do that since I live in Taiwan.
