Love the project, have now bought both leather THGNT and hard back Reader. Each one of the products has unique indexes including lemma and common lexicon and various explanatory articles and a table of ancient witnesses. Beautiful smythe sewn binding, heavy weight paper for writing in ink. Great price too.

So . . . where's the textual Commentary??? DId the THGNT's editors make the compilation first, and only now are giving the reasons for their text-critical decisions? How many active members does the editing team have? And when is the second edition coming? Also: re: 16:30 - Dr. Jongkind's assessment seems to collide with Jerome's assessment of MSS, Greek and Latin, which included the PA. (And the Old Latin breves should also be allowed to speak and be allowed into the apparatus.) I hope the decision to relegate John 7:53-8:11 to a footnote will be reversed in the second edition.

Today’s October 6 the day we remember William Tyndale’s martyrdom back in 1536!!! Everyone should buy one of these texts in honor of William Tyndale

Very interesting interview, thanks for making this happen and sharing it with us. Also I have to say, as a TR guy, I respect the decision in the THGNT with regards to the Woman Caught in Adultery. I think they are wrong, but at least they are honest and stick only to what they think is really Scripture. I think that’s much better than the way that most modern texts and translations keep it in the text but then cast doubt on its authenticity.

Great interview! Love the Tyndale Greek NT. I really hope that Tyndale House or any publishers could show some love for the Majority text by producing a high quality greek bible such as the TR text. A lot of believers still prefer the traditional text.

I agree, I'd love to see a high quality Byz text or TR... It's my biggest gripe over printed Greek New Testaments!
@SirChristoferus2 жыл бұрын
@@Dwayne_Green Personally, I think it'd be very nice to have a Greek text of the entire Bible, both the Old and New Testament, that seeks to harmonize three ancient witnesses: early Greek manuscripts(primary source), early translations(secondary source), and early patristic citations(tertiary source). That way, we'd have a pretty good idea of what the early church as a collective whole was reading - from the western peninsula of Iberia, to the eastern peninsula of Anatolia, and even all the way down to the land of Ethiopia.

@@Dwayne_Green I have the RP Byz textform from Anchor-Cross. It's actually quite nice. Improvements I would suggest would be cover options (only available in hardcover) and an apparatus more akin to the one in the THGNT.

So many mixed feeling about this one. Overall I like the principles used by this GNT to select the base text. However, it is just so frustrating to me that text that is traditionally considered canonical is not included more prominently.

Looking for this commentary on-line, but don't see it available. Is it published?

As far as I know, it is yet to be released.

It is too bad that Tyndale House left out important things of the actual manuscripts. They are difficult to produce.

The many reformation era TRs are probably out of date compared to the newer versions of the majority text such as was used for the WEB translation. Maybe ditch the nkjv and mev for the WEB translation.

What do you mean by out of date?
@colonyofcellsiamamachine61752 жыл бұрын
@@yahrescues8993 For the TR and majority text, current collections of texts will be much better than in more primitive times like 1611.
@yahrescues89932 жыл бұрын
@@colonyofcellsiamamachine6175 well, those who prefer the TR over the majority text which we have today would prefer to stay in a TR translation such as the KJV or even NKJV. The TR still has some reading not in the majority of manuscripts which we have today. I compare a digital version called EMTV (English Majority Text Version) when I study online. The WEB isn’t in print and the EMTV is hard to find in print
@colonyofcellsiamamachine61752 жыл бұрын
@@yahrescues8993 Liking the older TR behind the kjv is just an american bias. The TR used by martin luther for his german translation is probably more important. More recent majority text should be more accurate since it will have more texts. WEB translation based on majority text on the internet is good bec it is free and many americans are living in poverty so free is good.
@yahrescues89932 жыл бұрын
@@colonyofcellsiamamachine6175 yes I like to compare WEB as well from time to time. I like how these versions are in public domain. But I’m sure someone who prefers the TR would have a different perspective about majority vs TR
