As an electrician building water treatment facilities, I can only agree to the agresive nature theses chemicals have. Dr Elaine only mentioned 2 chemicals, but now we are installing injection pumps for 5 different chemicals. It gives me a sour taste for my job. Great podcast with lots of useful information. I am planning on taking her online courses

@@xxpowwowbluexx as I was drinking a glass of water from the tap last night I smelled faint chlorination. I immediately thought of Dr. Ingham and what that chlorine does to the soil. Not sure how I have enough space/time/energy to devote to filtering the water through compost.

Incredible info. Thank You! Her critique of KNF, her recommendations on how to harvest IMO to properly inoculate aerobic compost piles, and her breakdown of water quality and how to combat chemically treated water were huge takeaways for me. Amazing!

Totally agree. It can be frustrating. I mean, none of the agronomists I’ve seen speak or talked to personally ever wholly agree and more so they all seem to emphasize something else. I love and trust Elaine’s work, but I feel ya. This is just the nature of science. I say try a little and see how your plants respond. If it doesn’t seem to benefit them, don’t use it.

On the weir, I believe she is talking about running toxic water through a biological filter. This has been done in water catchment systems as well, where people don't clean their pre filter barrel and let the bio sludge build up on the bottom because it eats toxic material. ---i think that's what she's talking about 😂

@@svetlanikolova7673 You will have to search KZbin for Dr. Ingham's vids on making compost teas for drenching or injecting. To become proficient, taking one of her classes via Soil Food Web is likley necessary. It seems unless you are farming or market gardening on a scale, the time & expense would be prohibitive.
@SK-gc7xv
@SK-gc7xv 8 ай бұрын
@@svetlanikolova7673 The most simple way is to start with some rich soil found in an old forest near where you want to use the compost after it's done, then just start adding carbon (leaves, wood chips, cardboard with plastic taken off, regular paper, sawdust, etc) and mix it with some nitrogen-rich things like coffee grounds, plant matter that's still green (with seeds taken out), kitchen scraps (no meat or fat, though), etc. What you do after you build up a large pile (people usually build them in a cube made of pallets, since pallet wood is often free), depends on what sort of system you want to use. Some take longer, but make overall better compost (so-called 'Johnson/Su method'), while others are faster, like Professor Ingham's, which requires you to dig into it and turn it every so often. The main thing is just to start collecting those materials, and read about those faster and slower ways of turning into fertilizer over time.

Seriuosly, walking away from a University that has bought into a corporate GMO model of growing (likely via donations or sponsorships) is being hard to work with? If you are a scientist doing a trial, & you are cooperating or contracting with a lab (farrm) that is not following your instructions, you can't complete a trial. That is not being hard to work with. That is called being adherent to the scientfic method.

We have been tilling digging land for the entire history of human farming !!!! Why because it works..... End of debate in digging. Now today where the damage is coming from is the lack of organic matter in the soil, due to farmers no longer adding like we have for the last 6000 years or so. So dig til etc all you want, history shows it works and works well. BUT you must add sufficient organic matter every year or your soil dies. Its pretty simple folks

She should look more into into natural farming before bashing it, had me facepalming the whole time. Huge fan of her work, but anyone who has spent a good amount of time actually researching KNF can easily counter each and every one of her points. Talk to me when you get a 4000:1fungal to bacterial ratio with any other method (actual micro-counting test results from a dormant IMO 4 sample) . It’s about diversity and balance. Better yet, talk to me when you get even 2000:1 ratio by simply just composting and building soil. And yes, rice is a simple compound, high in plant fats for such an available carbohydrate, perfect for fungal spores that end up falling in when you place large diameter fungal hyphae and mycelium over the collection, which is an instructed part of the process. Also, the idea is to use 5+ good IMO collections when making IMO3, or even more, maximizing fungal diversity, and promoting balance. I wish someone would just water her garden with some liquid IMO and spray some maintenance solution for a couple weeks so she can see the results..... Again big fan of her work, she is a pioneer when it comes to living soil. I just wish she would give it more of a chance beyond “rice” and enzyme rich FPJs that she calls “anaerobic teas”. Can’t help but facepalm a little bit.... Great interview beyond that, keep it up and keep spreading that knowledge!

No-Till Growers I did yes, thoroughly enjoyed that interview, this one too until the KNF part lol, I don’t want to seem like bashing the video as a whole, I love your interview style, you really let them complete a thought before throwing another question at them. I’m glad to hear she’s come around a bit if that’s true too. I feel like her ideology goes hand in hand with the end goals of KNF, just not the practice as much. If she spent some time going down that rabbit hole I feel like she’d really enjoy it. Just my thoughts though. Keep doing your thing man I’m loving these interviews regardless👍

A big difference between KNF and Inghams method is KNF is free and accessible to learn (for the good of all farmers) and Ingham wants all your monies 🤑🤣 ... But if her price is too high for you, don't worry, she keeps slashing the price every month/year.
