Yeah. He's the man. His private library is bigger than the entire library of the university I attended. Lol! I love Dr. Scott Hahn.
@piusochigbochristian10793 жыл бұрын
@@tony1685 Really? I believe what you know and hold as Christianity; you're convinced is the truth. And as such Scott Hahn is wrong and you're right. That's quite interesting. But What if an Angel of God appears to you to tell you that you're wrong, will you accept and repent of your disbelief? Though I don't opine that you're wrong and the Catholic Church is right. Neither do I opine here that the Catholic Church is wrong and you're right. But if you really believe you're right and the Catholic Church is wrong; please kindly go down on your kneels and pray to God sincerely. Ask him to reveal to you the truth of his revelation. And also tell him that you will accept whatever he reveals to you. Be sincere about it when you ask. Tell God you want to be in the place that he endorses as his one true church; even if it's the Catholic Church. Be humble enough to accept this token of love which I request. I do believe most times we never get answers because we believe we know something. But actually we are quite distant from the truth of what we believe we know. And we can spend all the days of our life convinced that what we believe is the truth and what other people believe are false. Such convictions comes with flagrant arrogance, and lack of humility. In any life where such arrogance and lack of humility is found; no matter how righteous you tend to be, how prayerful you are you will never hear the voice of God speak to you. All you would hear which will inform that belief you hold convincingly, will be your emotions. Ones religious experience in such a situation becomes nothing more than an emotional experience. Truth can only be gotten by humility. So brother, I would be glad if you ask God to reveal to you the truth of his revelation. Have an open mind when you pray this prayer. Tell him if the Catholics are right and you're wrong He should reveal it to you. But if the Catholics are wrong and you're right; he should make you stronger in the belief that you have. Remember God answers all prayers. And also God will not lie to you. He will give to you as you have asked. And open the door to you as you have knocked. May God's wisdom and peace be with you, as you seek, you knock and you ask. I write from Nigeria.

Guys like Scott or average "modern" type of people?
@Eddieshred3 жыл бұрын
I doubt he has actually read all those 45,000 books, as in 'critically reading and thinking about it, studying it' which according to someone like Noam Chomsky is much more important then the speed with which you read. The problem with this 'argument from authority' is that there are experts in all sorts of fields, including among other things pseudo-sciences. There are probably guys you have read thousands of books on Islamic scripture, does that mean they are right about if Islam is the one true religion? Long story short, it's about how you think not what you think. If you study the irrelevant things, it's all in vain.

You basically want to say this guy is an idiot with bunch of books? Based on what? You have no arguments for anything you say.... Just be honest and say you refuse to believe in God no matter who you listen and how many are presented to you.. And thats fine, its your choice, so will be a consequences

@@lawmaker22 I don't doubt he is well read on matters to do with the Bible or theology. My point is not that all that he's a charlatan or incompetent, my point is that all his knowlegde is based on the premise that God exists and Christianity is true. I will believe in God when there is sufficient evidence for me to believe. I couldn't care less about the source be it a friend or a scolar. Ofcourse regarding theology I would rather listen to this man too than some average Joe, I would fully agree with you on that.

Thomas Aquinas' _Summa_ has some good philosophical theology in it but there are also some errors in it. Aquinas, who could not read Greek, made some mistakes since he was reading the NT through the lens of St Augustine, who also never read the NT in Greek. "Doctor of the Church" does not mean that Aquinas got everything right, as I'm sure Scott Hahn himself would admit. I mean: can we really believe that the blessed in heaven will _delight_ to see the tortures of the damned? I doubt it.
