I'm 80. 'Finding Your Roots' is my all-time, lifelong favorite show .. because it's so much more than a show. For me, it is the best example of our connection to one another. It is both very personal to the one in the chair, and very collective at a time when our connection to one another is sadly ignored or demeaned. Thank you, Dr. Gates, and to all who uncover our roots. You are appreciated.

His show prompted me to start my own search, and in doing so, I reconnected my family branch with the rest of a sizeable family. I found an incredible history starting in the 1400's Denmark with major connections that run deep throughout American History, from New Amsterdam through the colonialization and Westward expansion to today. Thank you Professor.
