"When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" is an internationally successful single by Dr. Hook. It was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, Alabama.
Written by Even Stevens, who followed producer Ron Haffkine into the studio bathroom to pitch him the song. "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" first appeared on the band's 1978 album Pleasure and Pain. Riding the disco wave in 1979 it belatedly became an international hit, reaching number six on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the USA and doing even better in the UK where it spent three weeks at number one in the UK Singles Chart in November 1979. The song was subsequently added to the band's 1979 album Sometimes You Win.
Dr. Hook (shortened from Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show in 1975) was an American rock band, formed in Union City, New Jersey. They enjoyed considerable commercial success in the 1970s with hit singles including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" (both 1972), "Only Sixteen" (1975), "A Little Bit More" (1976), "Sharing the Night Together" (1978), "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (1979), "Better Love Next Time" (1979), and "Sexy Eyes" (1980). In addition to their own material, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show performed songs written by the poet Shel Silverstein.
The band had eight years of regular chart hits, in the United States, where their music was played on top-40, easy listening, and country music outlets, and throughout the English-speaking world including the UK, Canada and South Africa. Their music spanned several genres, mostly novelty songs and acoustic ballads in their early years, though their greatest success came with their later material, mostly consisting of disco-influenced soft rock, which the band recorded under the shortened name, Dr. Hook.

Lyrics: When you're in love with a beautiful woman, it's hard When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you know it's hard Everybody wants her, everybody loves her Everybody wants to take your baby home When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you watch your friends When you're in love with a beautiful woman, it never ends You know that it's crazy, you wanna trust her Then somebody hangs up when you answer the phone When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you go it alone Maybe it's just an ego problem Problem is that I've been fooled before By fair-weather friends and faint hearted lovers And every time it happens it just convinces me more When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you watch her eyes When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you look for lies Everybody tempts her, everybody tells her She's the most beautiful woman they know When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you go it alone When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you watch your friends When you're in love with a beautiful woman, it never ends When you're in love with a beautiful woman, you watch her eyes

My sincere condolences to you! I cannot imagine the pain, my friend! I almost lost my sweetheart of 47 years to a horrific dog attack and mauling due to a 90 lb. male Doberman we "adopted". We had him for 39 days. I ended up killing him, after getting in my house just in time to save her! An angel (truly) told me to go inside one night while I was working in my barn. Now, almost four years later, she was diagnosed with malignant lung cancer. The surgeon just took part of her right lung out. The prognosis looks good! Thank you Jesus! For me being blessed enough to still have my beautiful woman. I say these things to encourage all of you to sincerely love and appreciate every day you have with your spouse! Each day is a blessing! I pray that God gives YOU peace and strength each day!

I'm from a small town in New Zealand. My Nana had a CD of Dr. Hook she used to play every time we got in the car, usually when we were driving from the farm into town to get ice cream, pick up my grandfather from the pub or just stroll down main street together. She died in 2008 from lung cancer; the last year was really difficult as she had to carry around an oxygen tank just to leave the house. She held on long enough to see my sister get married, then passed. I can't think of her and not think of Dr. Hook and mint candies

*@Michael Tuiiv* ✨💎 _You got it, baby!_ (telly savalas) For children & 'teens of the 60's & 70's, we've been given a priceless bedrock of rhythmic vocabulary & musical creativity that comes from years & years of being radioheads in that time. For anyone else whose first 18+ years of life was the 80's & 90's, you have access to any song recorded in the past 100 years. Today's mainsteam music seems hopeless to me. However, the more you dig into that deep musical treasure, the more you are rewarded. Good music truly is the gift that keeps right on giving. And just like good people, it just never goes out of style I'm an original 70's boogie child. Only one of millions who were raised on everything from dexter wansel's MFSB, to the three degrees, to lonnie liston smith, marvin gaye, al green, the supremes, through to a world of contemporary orchestra (easy listening radio) such as frank de vol, annunzio mantovani, david rose, henry mancini, andy williams, george shearing, percy faith, paul mauriat, john barry, & many others It is more than just a window of years & historic events. It is who we are. It is an open minded attitude; an expansion of mind & heart; & fearless hospitality & neighborly love. Thankfully the 'teens & young adults of today are even more "erase-ist" than back then. I refuse to give into the fear & division that the media & the gov't attempt to play on us... _I AM the Seventies. Me & My Entire Generation._ There is nothing left to change; there is nothing left to be malcontent with within ourselves. _We Are Who We Are. And We Remain UNCHANGED_ 💜❤️🎼🎸🕺

My wife of 54 years just died last year and that song is pretty true. She was a beauty even into her old age. Like the song says you go it alone. There is no such thing as having "good friends" when you're married to a beautiful woman. Everybody tries to temp her. You just have to be careful and not drive her away with suspicion. She either loves YOU or she don't but you can put an end to it really quick by being suspicious all the time. You can tell what's going on, you just watch the eyes. It's hard but it was worth it and I would do it all again in a minute. She was my best friend, my lover, and my soulmate since the 3rd grade and I would give all my tomorrows for just one yesterday. It took awhile for me to understand that it was her I was really in love with not just her beautiful looks. I would have fought an army barehanded for that woman and she knew it. And actually over the years I did kick quite a few asses. You could look but you better not touch. 🙂
