I did not understand what T2D was until Jan 2020. After getting neuropathy in my arms and legs waking up in pain, my research lead me to Dr Jason Fung. Everything made sense. I made drastic changes in my lifestyle immediately. Went LCHF keto with IF then transitioned onto carnivore after a few months after finding Dr Ken Berry and Dr Paul Saladino. I am now in a much happier place and am helping my family turn their health around before it's too late.

Thank you so much for all the work all you doctors on low carb down-under do to help us get control of our TTD, and our lives. When I was diagnosed with type two diabetes I couldn’t believe it. I spent many years in denial, and it seems I’m not alone. Many tt diabetics are in denial for a very long time. It’s easy to tell yourself it’s not a problem, or that you will beat it, or even that you don’t really have all the while continuing the same diet that led you to type two diabetes in the first place. My beef is this- I was on blood pressure meds, and statins, and I was in a hugely stressful job, which led to my packing on about 25kilos. I had major depression and was on medication for this, but my anxiety levels were debilitating, almost crippling. This happened over a number of years, yet not one doctor, while writing my scripts, and observing my weight gain ever told me what was going on in my body, and what would be the most likely outcome if nothing changed. I was never tested for, or told, that I was pre-diabetic. My insulin and cortisol levels were never tested, but I’m pretty sure they would have been through the roof. I was under huge amounts of stress at work, and was constantly anxious. With high bp and elevated cholesterol, plus gaining a lot of weight in a short period of time and having regular visits with my gp for monitoring and scripts why did no-one think to test me until it was too late. I was unaware then that excess weight, high blood pressure and high cholesterol were leading inexorably to ttd. I had no idea. The first I knew anything more serious was amiss I already had type two diabetes. I was 44. There is no history of any family member ever having diabetes, so I never suspected. I feel pretty let down by those doctors who didn’t level with me before it was too late to avoid it. They knew. Why didn’t they warn me?

I was told I had T2D feb 2019 A1c 10.1 In 4 months of keto. A1c down to 5.3 Mar 2020 I want to mostly carnivore. Except for occasional pickle or asparagus. I've lost 55lbs with another 40lb to go. Wish I had known years ago about this way of eating. I'm a 49 yr old female. My partner tried being vegan for a year before I was diagnosed, but didn't feel good. They started eating keto/carnivore when they saw how well I was doing. My partner had no major health issues.
@RTTGuy454 жыл бұрын
I have the same experience. All the advise one gets is mostly nonsense! It's not rocket science and they cured diabetes over 100 years ago, when it still was a rare disease, by putting people on carnivore diets. My weight never really bothered me but I was told that it was unhealthy to be fat so I figured I needed to do something about this. I tried losing weight with a number of diets, going to the gym, walking, swimming, cycling etc nothing has really worked or was sustainable. Turned out I was insulin resistant! This made me fat and unhealthy! When I realised this and the dangers of being insulin resistant then reversing this became my main focus. A lowcarb-highfat lifestyle in combination with keto and intermittent fasting restores ones insulin sensitivity. If one focuses on this then weight loss, increased energy levels and a more active lifestyle comes naturally. From BMI 40 to now BMI 24!

I can only imagine what shocking health I'd be in today if I hadn't switched to a keto diet a year ago. Lately I've been waning and yesterday I cracked and ate half a can of condensed milk mixed with a ripe lemon (same as lemon meringue filling), and *the headache* I got for hours afterwards was a dark reminder that sugar is not my friend. Been ages since I had a headache, unlike pre-keto, when they were every other day.

I would be careful staying on keto permanently, I tried it for nearly a year and felt great and would recommend it but then my mood started to deteriorate in time until I felt emotionally flat. It affects everyone differently I guess. Point is it has side effects not everyone can ignore. Smashing sweets straight off Keto should give you a headache though. Just plain bread tasted like cake to me coming off, I won't do no carb again though.

I am 6 months into Keto and very healthy 69 years old. I was never close to Diabetes, but for years I knew I had to cut back on sugars. But they are so addictive, I binge ate cookies. My body seemed to be able to handle it. I knew nothing about fatty liver, or insulin reistance until 6 months ago. I was glad to see my body bounce back so quickly, and it can handle around 100 g of carbs a day and stay in ketosis. Ketosis keeps giving me energy when out for hours golfing like nothing else. What got me out of sugar was a video about heart attack by Ivor Cummins. I was thinking I should do everything I can to avoid a heart attack. That timeline seemed to be Keto, and although I did not know about many of my health problems then, I have become aware of them as old systems have been kicking in online. I never thought I would be mountain hiking or jogging again for a long time now but I can do both with great stamina now. Don't ever think you are too old or your doctor tells you you should not go on Keto, your life is in your hands, exercise is NOT optional, cheers fellow awoken humans.

He refuses to eat healthily, lies to the doctors, his A1c is 11, and he doesn't realise the doctors have given up on him too. You can't help those who won't help themselves. The best diabetes presentation I have ever watched. Kudos to Dr. James Muecke. Loved bringing Neil into the story and also the impactful slides. All of us know a Neil where the bad things always happen to someone else.I know a guy who had a stroke and is now paralyzed in half his body. Estimate he is around 50. Another guy, again like Neil has been driving and had to have his daughter grab the wheel because of temporary blindness. The entire lower part of one leg is completely black but he loves his carbohydrates and says they provide the energy he needs for his job. High impact images like those in your presentation are needed to bring home the seriousness of this disease. I know several diabetics including myself and all the others prefer the easy way; medications rather than diet and are turning a reversible disease into a progressive disease: not for me!

3 LAB TESTS YOU CAN USE TO SEE IF YOU ARE BECOMING DIABETIC/INSULIN RESISTANT: 1. Check your blood sugar levels at home using a glucometer. Check 1-1.5 hr after eating a meal. If it is > 7.8 mmol/L you are becoming insulin resistant. You don't want it to be even close to 7.8 mmol/L. If it is over 7.8 mmol/L you need to look into the Keto diet and Intermittent Fasting. 2. Get a C-Peptide test from your Dr or a lab. Normal range is 0.8-3.85 ng/mL. Even if it is only 0.1 of a point high, that is serious and you need to start a Keto diet. It is a better test than an insulin test as it's more stable. 3. Get your Dr to do a HbA1C test. Normal is 6.4%

Thanks for the information. I struggle for 14 years to get a correct diagnosis for my eye problem. Kept being told I had age-related macular degeneration. This did not make sense to me. I finally challenged the eye doc who finally sent me to a retina specialist. I got a diagnosis and it was not age-related macular degeneration!! Saw two more ophthalmologists for yearly check-ups. Thought their exams were not thorough enough, so a saw another doc this year. I used to be a librarian and now I cannot even read print books so I have given up and listen to audiobooks. It would have been nice if the first ophthalmologist had given me an accurate diagnosis. (she even told me my eyes were 20/20 but I knew this was not true. My eyes have never been 20/20.) I have listened to other KZbin videos that were not even available back in 2002 when I first noticed a problem. Hope people are inquisitive enough to search out answers. I am lucky enough to have a large screen desktop computer so I can watch KZbin videos by doctors like you.

They're in disbelief and say sugar isnt that bad, "why not treat yourself every once in while?" you see.. thing is, I have no resistance to sugar and can easily walk past carb aisles in supermarket without wishing to have any of it. Without their driving of our health, it’s only those of us who have listened to your message, and that of other enlightened people, that will benefit. My dad "picks" on me because I won't eat sweets with sugar (I do have a few here and there with alternative low GI sweeteners). He says you can have that or do you want that and I say no, it has sugar in it. He'll chuckle and I've started saying, you laugh but it'll kill me. He shakes his head and laughs. He's known I was diagnosed type 2 for years and I am now diet controlled and no longer on medicine and I've told him since he's moved in with us. The other day my sister brought him a dessert (he LOVES sweets) and we went through it again and again after I said it would kill me he laughed again and I said again that I'm type 2 and it will kill me if I eat that stuff. Apparently it got through to him a little and he said, you have the diabetes? I didn't know that. smh Years ago he was diagnosed with pre diabetes and my mom had him eating "healthy" I guess it did help him enough just not eating sugar so much but he was still eating all the carbs and bread, now my mom is gone and he has CLL and isn't taking any treatment so part of me feels awful when he eats sugar but the other part of me knows this is his choice to eat that crap. He even tried to tell me sugar was good for us. Whenever he eats sugar or carbs he says, mmm, that's good. Anyway this long story to say that this is how I view sugar, as something that will kill me because even though a little won't, continuing on a lifetime of eating it will and I don't seem to be able to control it and eat only a little so I have to view it as poison.

I finally backed off and say, Well, not for me! But it breaks my heart to see them feeding this poison to their children and setting them up for a lifetime of disease!

Granny Squares & Wagon Wheels addicts have many ways to justify their addiction. It tough because you really deal with the addict instead of your dad. Often others fall into the enabling role. Be well.

Tell him he's digging himself into an early grave. He sounds like he's teasing you, but you know better 😊 I undestand your technique to stay away from sugar. Demonising a particular thing though might keep you worrying about it, so maybe focus on the real things that are good instead so you can feel joy from feeling you're doing the right thing without sugar. Hope you're okay 🙏🏽

You are not alone. Almost all of us who understand the truth are also dealing with loved ones with this addiction. That's what it is - an addiction. It activates the same dopamine reward pathway that cocaine does. When we don't eat sugar we get withdrawal symptoms (aka keto flu). Purpose of sugar in nature is to fatten us up to be able to survive winter. But now we eat it from the moment we wake up to the moment we sleep. And even we eat it in the middle of the night. It truly is a drug disguised as and promoted by the government as heart healthy foods.

Your strategy is logical but when you figure who is in control of so much of the world around us it becomes a pipe dream. The problem has many angles especially the horrific actions of the medical community who becomes the lemmings of big pharma. How do you turn around a world that is in the hands of vested interests? One video at a time!!! 💐💐💐💐

I lost a small segment of vision in my right eye. The consultant could not explain why the blood vessels there had burst. He should have known about this. At the time I was fat from comfort eating to deal with the agony and lack of sleep resulting from my spinal cord being damaged by a clumsy anaesthetist. I had received rather useless advice after a heart attack so I set out to find out for myself what to do. But I was flying blind. None of the available advice made sense. Reduce calories and go for long walks? Sure. Lose a few pounds then stasis. So cut the calories again. Result: quit the diet. It took me years to find out what to do. First I found the Starting Strength method of weight training, then I found out about low carb diets and fasting. Now, at 69, I am stronger than most younger men and have a 30" waist (and it's still shrinking). I have passed on my knowledge to my obese GPs.

I have type 2 diabetes. I don’t understand removing candy and soda because We SEE that is sugar. We know to stay away from it however with 75% of added sugar in most foods in the United States what’s hurting us is the unseen sugar that’s been added to foods that should have never had sugar added in the first place. Like catsups, tomato soup, tomato sauce, salad dressing, etc. I read everything and it gets very depressing. If sugar is as addictive as a drug then ban manufacturers from adding it or provide a line of products without it. We will never get a grip on type 2 diabetes unless we start at the source and request manufacturers to not add sugar in our foods. Of course that won’t happen. Big business in the sugar market.

That was an awesome and deep speech although I think he should replace "sugar" for "sugar and carbohydrates". Unfortunately most people do not associate sugar with carbs. Even the food labeling makes that distinction, yet both elicit the exact same reaction in our body. What we need are bold doctors who are willing to smear the overwhelming evidence on people's face. He is still afraid to do that. What a shame.

It's time to change official guidelines and educate people on what health really is. I started intermittent fasting and keto 50 days ago. I feel so much better, and lost 15 kgs. My weight was getting out of control, and I was miserable. I thought to myself "it's my fault, I'm not strong enough to resist, I'm failure". I wasn't. I just didn't have the correct information. Now I do, and I'm worried about my friends and family that still don't understand how our bodies work. They're still going "low fat" and high carbs... Good luck everyone ! Stay happy, stay healthy ! :)

Sadly our governments are not interested in cutting our healthcare costs. Of they were they would be hard hitting the advertising industry with all the false advertising. The science has been around for many decades. Belinda Fettke has an amazing video on KZbin detailing the influence of certain organizations on the food pyramid which pushes high carb. Most people fail to understand that Carbohydrates are made up of starches and sugars and the starches eventually break down to sugar.
