My doctor did external alignments on my jaw and he released the tension from my muscles around the joint. He also cracked my ears and focused pressure on an area near my temples. It’s my first TMJ alignment, so I am very sore. I can tell the difference, since it feels like if a lot of tension has been released. It still pops when I open my mouth, but it has greatly improved. My jaw pops when ever I open it. And sometimes it even gets locked open, terrifying the first time it happened. And my dentist only suggested that botox injections could help it. But wonder if this is something that could help instead.
@missmint.80516 жыл бұрын
Mines does the same thing! It’s been happening for months and months now, to the point where it even hurts sometimes. I went to an orthodontist to see what was up and he told me that my jaw is falling out of place whenever I close my mouth. I’ve never worn braces before but he says that due to how bad my jaw is, we’ll have to start backwards by having me start out with a retainer. I suggest getting a second opinion from an orthodontist!! You should really get it checked out before something really serious happens
@xxdeathtollxx6 жыл бұрын
@@missmint.8051 I'm military and about to deploy but in definitely going to get multiple other opinions when I get back. I think I'd rather even just deal with a retainer instead of haveing botox injections in my jaw.

Me too! A maxillofacial doc suggested wisdom teeth removal and my dentist suggest braces, the removal did nothing and braces I had in the past for 5 years I don't want them again. I touched the topic of jaw surgery but even the dentist suggested its not 100% fixed or a great solution, on top of it being permanent, no turning back if it comes out botched. So now I don't know what to do!
@xxdeathtollxx6 жыл бұрын

Aubrey Victoria I see one for my TMJ. But he holds it for nearly 30 seconds. Mostly to loosen the muscles more then anything. She was damn near crying after 3 seconds, shit hurts like a mother tucker when it's done for 30 seconds on both sides.
@BabesbyJanea6 жыл бұрын
What are they doing when they do that? Pushing your jaw over?
@theberch6 жыл бұрын
Shelby Taylor there are muscles inside your jaw. Basically tmj is caused by constant clenching and grinding. So in essence, it's basically an over used muscle, so it becomes painful. Bone plays a role too, but it's mostly due to muscle pain and soreness. Think of it like this, have you ever had a muscle cramp. Well imagine that in your jaw... 24/7 So what the chiropractor is doing is loosening the muscle inside your mouth by applying direct pressure. Like I said, you get a muscle spasm or cramp you rub the area and it helps. Same idea, only ALOT of direct pressure is applied to a very small area inside your mouth.
@justinkraft5646 жыл бұрын
Well she might have more damage and scar tissue in her temporomandibular joints than you do. Or her. Pain threshold is lower than yours. Or her chiro does it harder. Not everything in the medical field especially when it comes to pain is universal! My Meniscus was torn in my right temporomandibular joint and I couldn't even do it for 10th of a second without wanting to scream and cry so the severity of the disorder an injury plays a huge role in the amount of pain someone feels.

My TMJ has been so bad recently that the threat of pain he mentions sounds great. I can hardly open my mouth and once it pops it gets stuck open till i push it shut with my hands. Also clenched my jaw so tight I’ve cracked molars. I need this guy in my life haha

I have the same problem. If I yawn to hard or wide my jaw gets stuck and will not go back to the proper place for a while. My longest record is 6 hours, that is insane and I was at work in a substance abuse clinic, where the patients really need compassion and kindness. I pushed through the day but went to my supervisor and showed her and I started crying because it hurt so bad and was such an uncomfortable fit. I still get chills, so now I monitor how wide I stretch my mouth for a yawn, I need a Dr for this I cannot risk that happening again 😔
@brandyyolidio42136 жыл бұрын
TheMerdiff have you tried a bite guard, like the one from the dentist not the sports guard? I have a bite guard that my dentist had custom made for me due to excessive clenching and it has helped so much. I no longer wake up with that temple headache I use to have. I looked at the guard made out of a very hard acrylic type material and it has some bite impressions but the guard absorbs all the shock and I feel so much better, please try it if it does not improve

These are doctors dedicated to their craft. They study the human body day in and day out. And a good chiropractor will study your specific issue and give you therapy that treats the tooth cause if the problem. That's why sometimes they do things that don't seem related, but they actually are. The human body is the most advanced machine in the world, and like any machine, it requires maintenance. Medicinal doctors like to bash Chiropractors because they treat with medicine and believe that's the only way to help people, but most MD's are short term fixes with lifelong pills. Chiropractors will treat you for as long as you need it, and teach how to take responsibility for your own health, same with PT's. I had a very knowledgeable Chiropractor that healed my back and chest in 3 months if therapy starting 3 days a week. It was a processes but everything she suggested for me to do helped me feel better every day. I thought I had heart problems before I visited her. But yes, you have to find a Chiro that is in love with their craft and helping people. Some Chiros just go though the motions

I have tmj, it's so painful. The deviation I have is pretty big. I went to the dentist and he told me to see a chiropractor. I went to the chiropractor and he referred me to my dentist. I just want help! 🙁
@DrJason6 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasmin, I'm sorry you're hurting. During our exam process, I am able to get an idea of how much we'll be able to help. I've had cases I've had to refer out too. The key is proper analysis of TMJ and cervical spine (neck).
@jazzsanchez176 жыл бұрын
DrJason thank you for your reply! I'm looking into a chiropractor where I live that can help me. Crossing my fingers that I can find one! 😊🤞
@timothytendick15506 жыл бұрын
I understand tmj pain...at it's worst, because it tends to cycle through varying levels of intensity, i'm out of commission and working desperately not to come undone psychologically. Insurance companies don't cover for it and "fixing" a heavy overbite mixed crossbite like mine will cost $60-$100k.
@heathergreene40856 жыл бұрын
I had tmj for the longest! It eventually figured itself out. But what helped me the most was massaging my jaw muscle. There are so many youtube videos explaining how to do this yourself! The important part is you do it in a downward motion and helps relax the jaw
