Hi, I’m from Uruguay and is killing me that you are stirring the mate, if you do that you will clog the bombilla, you have to leave it in and never take it out or stir it. Love the video!

When you talk about Mate, you have to mention Uruguay!!! Uruguay has the highest consumption of Mate per capita in the world, and is located in the center of the geographical region of Mate: Paraguay, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil. In Brazil, only the southern region are Mate drinkers, in particular the state of Rio Grande do Sul, which borders with Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. Pope Francis drinks Mate because he is an Argentinian.

Lesson one: don’t stir the bombilla

Why?
@bluorb
@bluorb 8 ай бұрын
@@DOGOID makes it more bitter & more likely to get particles in the bombilla, which clogs it. It should actually be step zero, because you do really want to stir it like tea. Also, don't even touch the bombilla with anything but your lips 👍

You can drink it cold, like the Guarani did originally and how they still do in Paraguay. That is my preferred way of drinking it.

You never, never, move the bombilla like that, it must rest quiet in the same spot until that spot loses its flavour, then you push that used up yerba to the side with the bombilla and drop dry yerba in the spot, relocating the bombilla in the same spot for new flavourful mate.

I'm brand new to this, as in I'm having my 2nd mate today... but you made several mistakes!! Probably not following those instructions quite right 😹 You need to put the bombilla in and DON'T TAKE IT OUT!! Also, never stir the mate. If it's bitter, good chance the water was too hot or the siring made it stronger / more bitter. When done correctly, it's almost sweet with a hit of hay. Even tastier with some citrus zest or peel, though I've only tried the zest :)

In Brazil we prepare another kind of mate tea boiling the dried ground leaves and them percolating them. After that we add lime juice and sugar.

I’m from Argentina (entre Ríos- near Uruguay) living in London. I’ve never heard of mouth cancers being a problem there. I have many family members that are doctors and nurses, they never said anything about drinking Yerba mate and its relationship with cancer. However, it’s been discovered not long ago that no matter what brand you buy, all of them have bits of metal, allegedly coming from the grinding machines. :/

Does anyone know what those lovely looking very bright green powdery brands are? I usually drink canarias and kraus.
@nicolasbruni3282
@nicolasbruni3282 8 ай бұрын
It is brasilian mate, or chimarrao, that is not smoked and grounded to fine powder. The preparation process is different from the argentinian or uruguayan mate (the calabash is also different) but I guess you can still prepare it in a similar fashion as the canarias mate.

Doctor, Yerba mate “mate” is a hot infusion drink mostly in Argentina and Uruguay, some in the South of Brasil, in Paraguay they drink Tereré which is a cold drink ( iced mate ). And do you don’t stir the bombilla.
@limber3894
@limber3894 7 ай бұрын

Peru also has a culture of consuming yerba mate, but it is not as well known. Yerba mate was imported from Paraguay and was popular during colonial times. When the British came to Peru, they brought their tea which ultimately replaced Mate, unfortunately.

One thing I’ve noticed with many mate drinkers is they usually have nice hair, skin and in general look healthier than most. Could be the antioxidants in the yerba. This is just an observation from a mate drinker

Oh my God!!! NOOOOO!!!! I have Chemistry degree also... I Drink mate. LOL!!! You 've got it all wrong....sorry. EVERYTHING!!! Get advice from sombody is a real mate drinker. How to set up. You can add sugar if you please (i do it). Water must be @ 83/87 C (centigrades). yerba must be shaked before starting, so the thinner part stays on top and pieces of stem remain at the bottom. Good luck!
