I’ve been playing piano for over 40 years and after seeing him at the old Town and Country club in London about 25 years ago, I felt like pushing my piano straight off the end of Tower Bridge into the Thames. Great, great player RIP 🎹😔

The Doctor was one of the invited guests at The Band's final concert in 1976 -The Last Waltz . He sang his heart out that night with The Band backing him to the hilt singing this song 'such a night .' If you have not ever seen the movie The Last Waltz ,then you can't regard yourself as a music lover ...it is exceptionally brilliant with a ' who's who ' of the Rock world performing on stage in San Francisco . Mesmerisingly sublime quality of the highest possible grade .

Must have been 1981 Mac played at a local bar in Orchard Park, N.Y. Called the South Towner. Anyway I was there standing 8ft from him and his band Performing. His performance blew me right the hell away! I was So Glad So Blessed to be there. What a performance! You Sir are truly missed. Rip Mac

Love Dr. Johns Such A Night. I created one of my first stage pantomimes to this piece. One of my most favorite pieces. Loved the modernized ragtime of that period back in my days of youth! Ah.....jazz blues ragtime with a bit of funk. RIP wherever you are Dr. John jamming with Gabriel.and the others.

Such a night, it's such a night Sweet confusion under the moonlight Such a night, such a night To steal away, the time is right Your eyes caught mine, and at a glance You let me know that this was my chance But you came here with my best friend Jim And here I am, tryin' to steal you away from him Oh, but if I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will And it's such a night, it's such a night Sweet confusion under the moonlight It's such a night, such a night To steal away, the time is right Yeah, I couldn't believe my ear And my heart just skipped a beat When you told me to take you walkin' down the street Oh yeah, you came here with my best friend Jim Here I am, I'm stealin' you away from him Oh, but if I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will If I don't do it, you know somebody else will

You're missing the point, sir. Clapton was playing his instrument (which is pretty much what he's been "about"all along, whether as the Star or part of the support team, in several bands & under several guises). Musical performances do NOT have to be all about the billing. Sometimes the folks (artists/musicians/whatever) just want to get together & make music.
