What a wonderful and inspirational story! My daughter is 5 weeks old and has down syndrome. This story gives me hope and strength that my daughter will get to lead a "normal" life.

+NovaExplosion Have you lost your mind. I hope you never plain on having a child. I can't imagine how you would be able to be a loving parent. Being a parent is putting another life before your own.

It shocks me the spiteful comments on this award! She is a great role model for any human being but especially those with Down Syndrome. All of us have limitations but it's clear a lot of people have zero compassion or understanding. God bless our world.

Do not be shocked but be calmed for the torrents created by the jealous and the meek-minded are only washed up as a stones throw of effort put into true perception.

As a parent who when expecting his first child biggest fear was a child with mental disability, God gave me the a mentally perfect physically disabled son. After raising him for 17 years and being around physically and disabled children all my life, I'm proud to say I've grown to understand what a glorious triumph Karen's story is. None of us is perfect, but we are all God's children.

@@evanstiff1057, Karen Gaffney's existence makes the world a better place. It's reasonable to assume Noah's existence also makes the world a better place. Another reasonable assumption, by evidence of your comment, is that you *choose* to do what you can to make the world a worse place. You might be quite surprised what happens if you make a different choice.
