I am one of those people who found history a complete muddle at school, all those dates and kings and endless queens beyond my comprehension. I am a great reader and these days enjoy historical books but what has really caught my imagination are Dt Kat's vlogs, not to long, not to complicated, just full of information and understandable knowledge. I am now feeling the pull of history at the grand old age of 65. Thank you Dr Kat, please have time to enjoy your baby, but also please keep on with these superb vlogs.

Thank you for the explaining the Tower Hill and Tower of London. My Mother and I took a vacation to London and being American, it was confusing to us. We truly do learn something new every day!

Not forgetting the poor Duke of Monmouth who was publicly executed on Tower Hill in the late 17th century ,I think by the infamous & drunk 'Jack Ketch', who took so many blows to sever his head that the young Duke is actually said to have turned and looked back up in distain at this monster before 'Jack' abandoned the blunt axe and carried on the task with a knife ! Ironically, before he knelt to lay his head on the block, the Duke, knowing the reputation of this masked reaper, is reported as slipping Ketch some gold coin and pleading "Pray.. do not hack me as you did my Lord Russell". Ouch !

Would you please talk about weddings? I am a wedding officiant and many times help with planning the wedding. I have had several people say they want the ceremony to be a medieval one, and while I have a few scripts that I use, it would be great to learn about how weddings were carried out and what the ceremony actually consisted of. If there is a good script of the ceremony online, please let me know. Thanks for all the work you do. I love your videos.

I think marriages in the olden days were more of a contract between 2 families rather than a pledge between 2 people. Not quite romantic by today's standards I would think. Now that I think of it, I think Dr Kat have done a video on betrothal.
@ReadingthePast
@ReadingthePast 3 жыл бұрын
I did make a video on “Marriage in English History” but I didn’t talk about the vows - we have a record of the vows exchanged between Henry VIII and Katherine Parr and they are pretty recognisable as marriage vows. Except they end “thereto I plight thee my troth” and KP promised to be “bonaire (bonny) and buxom at bed and at board” - romance-wise, I’m not sure this is what your couples have in mind 😜

I'm not sure how anyone else gets to the Tower of London, but I walked. It's been two years already (where does the tie go?) but I remember that I walked a lot, that I had my bag on my back when I climbed the dome of St Paul's, that I had to store it somewhere (I've forgotten where) before going to the Tower, and that I saw the Crown Jewels on the same day as St. Paul's.

Is Gabriel old enough to give his consent to being an Internet personality? I vote for him to not be seen beyond the very sweet and loving update on the day of his birth. I know, I know, no one thinks like this these days.

Thank you for explaining the difference between Tower hill and the Tower, it illuminates well the class divisions of the time in levels of brutality. More of your thoughts on the Peasants revolt would be great, Stay well and always look forward to your videos❣️🤗

Hi Dr. Kat! Greetings from across the pond. I'm a huge anglophile and I love your channel. As an American I've always been curious about the British perspective regarding the American colonies declaring their independence from Britain and the resulting war. Was the war popular amongst the general population? Was parliament divided on the subject? And how involved was King George III in the execution of the war? What was the political meaning and economic fallout once the colonies were lost? We only receive the American perspective which is probably part fact and part myth. Thanks Dr. Kat.

Hello Dr. Kat I find these site profile/histories so interesting. Perhaps you could do this with other famous monuments, buildings or even cities or towns.
