I love the way Dr Kingori actually does his research. Everything he says is well thought of. For example the way he explains, about Nogales Sonora and Nogales Arizona. This is the story of a city in real life that is divided by a fence. The northern part of the city,Nogales Arizona is in north America. The southern part,Nogales Sonora is in Mexico. Therefore the fence that cuts the town in two parts is the border between USA and Mexico. The people on the American side have all the privileges that come with being in a rich country while the people on the Mexican side have a much worse situation since Mexico is poor. The story about this city iko kwa book inaitwa "Why nations fail". This book explains why poor countries are poor and rich countries are that way. It turns out the answer to most of the problems we have in poor countries lies within the pages of such a book. Kingori understands politics in a much deeper level. Most of the things he said went right over their heads.

Well said! The tendency to look to the West stems from the fact that we are poorly versed in African history and anthropology, anyone who is well versed in these areas knows that our traditional systems of governance were founded on democracy and the rule of law and demanded humility, responsibility and accountability from the King. Quiet as it's kept, the first known Constitution known to man was drafted in the Kingdom of Mali in 1235 and it was called the Kouroukan Fouga. The French American and British constitutions were all drafted almost 5 centuries later, and were a shadow of the Mali constitution which went as far as providing directives on ENVIROMENTAL CONSERVATION. True story. Moreover, there are many illustrations that demonstrate African leaders were groomed from birth and ascended to the highest seat based on principal not sentiment. The story of King Cirha of the Amampondomise (a Xhosa subgroup) demonstrates that a King was chosen on the basis of character (leadership skills) not birth order, and his mother had to be of good character, if the mother was not of good character her sons would not be considered for Kingship! Reason being, she had to be ready to act as regent if anything happened to the King, as the Queen Mother she also sat in parliament and had spiritual role to play and was also tasked with representing women and bring feminine energy to Council deliberations. The assassination of King Shaka oZulu demonstrates that if a King started messing up his mandate he would be eliminated quick fast and in a hurry. There are so many other examples I would cite... The systems of governance we have adopted from the West are the ones perpetuating arrogance, centralisation fo power, arrogance, corruption as well as lack of accountability. Doing the right thing is easier said than done. We are part human, part divine; at our best we are divine, at our worst we sink into our flaws and act devilish, subsequently I believe we have to lean into a higher power in order to do better and be the best version of ourselves. Sadly Africans are adrift because we have lost African spirituality which encouraged us to cultivate a personal relationship with God, all this I'm saved business is all for show, back in the day, people had altars in the home and had to face God everyday, as opposed to now, when people go outside the home to worship....once a week! Africa will only begin to rise when we restore ourselves to ourselves, embrace African spirituality which enhances humility, responisbility and accountability, and from there a philosophy will emerge. As per now we are looking that magic negro to lead us, and some western ideology. An ideology devoid of divine guidance and mission will fail!

Dr. Kingori, if UDA and ODM are the same, then what's wrong with Jalas working with the President. And yes, "development" still comes from the presidency, an added bonus to what he gets constitutionally. It's all politics. And the US may look very ideological but it's clear the big companies run the congress and Senate. We are actually lucky currently that it hasn't got to this point in Kenya, rather a good president who can honor at least 85% of his promises will do much better for the country. If the parties are the same, why reduce Jalas, Caroli actions as betrayal yet the variable being tested is the ideological principles and not the party Principal. Don't they have an advantage in aligning themselves with the Principal who can aid them in the delivery of the political manifesto. I.e. better service delivery which in turn aids in their reelection.

Some Azimio legislatures have been doing great development projects in their respective constituencies despite them being in opposition. The issue of 'going for development' at state house is a lame excuse. The question is who is jalas principle wise? There have been allegations in the past about his involment in shoddy deals commonly known as 'wash wash'. Most people that were involved in scandals during the jubilee regime went to UDA.
