Especially when this old man twists and turns his words....The old man was claiming "international waters while his own Foreign Minister was reported to have repeatedly tried to call the Metri Besar not to enter the Malaysian vessel anchored for weeks in the waters ( which indicates he knows it's not international waters) but to which the MB responded that he had the FM's blessings to board the Malaysian vessel and then said he needn't ask for permission as he was entering Malaysian waters. QUESTION IS : PM is contradicting his 2 ministers' views: Foreign Minsiter's view is contradicting the other PM and FM's views, while their Mentri Besar's view contradicts the PM and the FM's . .. So are they confused or confusing themselves ? Do they know history because history can not be altered at one's whims and fancies.

Why Is Oracle (ORCL) Up 5.5% Since Last Earnings Report? Zacks Zacks Equity Research,Zacks 2 hours 15 minutes ago Reactions Reblog on Tumblr Share Tweet Email Marine Products (MPX) doesn't possess the right combination of the two key ingredients for a likely earnings beat in its upcoming report. Get prepared with the key expectations. It has been about a month since the last earnings report for Oracle (ORCL). Shares have added about 5.5% in that time frame, outperforming the S&P 500. Will the recent positive trend continue leading up to its next earnings release, or is Oracle due for a pullback? Before we dive into how investors and analysts have reacted as of late, let's take a quick look at the most recent earnings report in order to get a better handle on the important catalysts. Oracle Tops Q2 Earnings Estimates, Revenues In Line Oracle Corporation reported modest second-quarter fiscal 2019 results. Non-GAAP earnings of 80 cents per share surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of 78 cents. Revenues of $9.562 billion were almost in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $9.535 billion. Earnings increased approximately 16% from the year-ago quarter (up 19% in cc). Further, revenues were almost flat year over year and increased 2% in cc. This was towards the higher range of management’s guidance of 0-2%. Structural Changes The company had adopted a new Accounting Standards Codification ("ASC") 606 using full retrospective method in the fourth quarter. In first-quarter fiscal 2019, Oracle launched a bring-your-own-license (BYOL) program which enables customers to shift their existing on-premise licenses to the Oracle Cloud. In doing so, Oracle claims that licenses covered by the BYOL program can neither be defined as on-premise nor as cloud. Consequently, the company started reporting its new software licenses under its new Cloud license and on-premise license segment. Further, the company merged its Cloud SaaS, Cloud PaaS and IaaS along with its software license updates and product support into Cloud services and license support. Cloud Drove the Top Line Oracle’s top-line growth benefited from the ongoing cloud-based momentum. Total cloud services and license support revenues (69% of total revenues) for the quarter advanced 3% (5% in constant currency) to $6.64 billion. However, total cloud license and on-premise license decreased 9% year over year (6% in constant currency) to $1.22 billion. Management announced that Fusion ERP and Fusion HCM is more than $2.6 billion in the 12 months period. Fusion ERP was up 44% for the full year. NetSuite ERP revenue increased 25%. Further, the next-generation autonomous database launched by Oracle, which is supported by machine learning, is now available. This is a key catalyst for the company. Management believes that the new database will improve Oracle’s competitive position in the cloud against Amazon Web Services (“AWS”). The company’s tech ecosystem is $21 billion in the past 12 months. BYOL remains strong fueled by new database license and support revenues, both of which were up low-single digits. Total hardware revenues were down 5% (3% in cc) year over year and came in at $$891 million. Services revenues decreased 5% (2% in cc) to $817 million. Operating Details Non-GAAP operating expenses, as percentage of revenues, increased 70 basis points (bps) to 57.3%. As a result, non-GAAP operating income during the reported quarter came in at $4.08 billion, down 2% from last year. Non-GAAP operating margin was flat year over year and came in at 43%. Balance Sheet & Cash Flow As of Nov 30, 2018, Oracle had cash & cash equivalents and marketable securities of $49.39 billion, down from $60.1 billion sequentially. Operating cash flow for the trailing four quarters was $15.2 billion, while free cash flow was $13.8 billion. Share Repurchases & Dividends Continue Oracle repurchased around 203 million shares worth $10 billion during the reported quarter. Over the last 12 months, the company repurchased 602 million shares. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of 19 cents per share, payable on Jan 30, 2019. Guidance For the third quarter of 2019, total revenues are anticipated to grow in the range of 2-4% in cc. Non-GAAP earnings are anticipated to be between 83 cents and 85 cents for the third quarter, while in constant currency non-GAAP earnings is expected to be in the range of 86 cents and 88 cents. How Have Estimates Been Moving Since Then? In the past month, investors have witnessed a downward trend in fresh estimates. VGM Scores At this time, Oracle has a subpar Growth Score of D, however its Momentum Score is doing a bit better with a C. Following the exact same course, the stock was allocated a grade of C on the value side, putting it in the middle 20% for this investment strategy. Overall, the stock has an aggregate VGM Score of C. If you aren't focused on one strategy, this score is the one you should be interested in. Outlook Estimates have been broadly trending downward for the stock, and the magnitude of these revisions indicates a downward shift. Notably, Oracle has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). We expect an in-line return from the stock in the next few months. Want the l

Many comments here were written by supporters of Dr M, simply stating that this Oxford student does not know what he is doing, going against Dr M like that. Fact of the matter is that Dr M was very good at avoiding the question and the journalist/student is presenting a good point; a very good point indeed. Disregarding nationalities, Dr M is merely avoiding the question. If you do notice, the question is about the maritime intrusion and the publishing of port circulars traversing Singapore's port limits despite Malaysia accepting the charts since the 1970s. He was addressing the unfairness of the water agreement between Malaysia & Singapore. Sure, concession is due where Singapore is selling Malaysia water at perhaps, exorbitant prices, but he was not addressing the issue at all -- the fact remains that Malaysia did cross into Singapore's territorial waters and Dr M had nothing to say about his country's attitude towards that. When he finally did reply to the question, he stated that the party that invaded the waters "did not know" or that it was "international waters", both of which are weak and contradictory arguments. Mr Darrion here lost, not because his argument was incomplete, but because he failed to win at this game of diverting attention.
@boredoutofreason5 жыл бұрын
Avoiding the question so that he can think about it and answer it later is clearly what a politician does everywhere. Regardless of whether its a good point, he should show some respect when addressing a man who has been a politician for so many years. Even correcting Dr M while he is talking, saying 62 when clearly mahathir mispoke and said 66, is just trying to make himself sound like he is aloof and like he is better than Dr M. He is 93 years old, if he forgets dates its natural. He may not be a perfect person but then who is? Even LKY has made questionable decisions during his rule. It is this guys delivery that people are angry about not so much the questions. Malaysians are a pasionate bunch and seeing how this guy is disrespecting Dr M with his superiority complex (SG better than MY) mentality is bound to ruffle feathers. When the people feel like the government is failing, they will vote and it would actually matter as seen from the change of government in Malaysia. Not sure i can say the same about SG. That is just my oppinion.

Mahatir now at this Oxford Union said "international waters. In the previous days, he was reported to claim it was Malaysian waters and had the boundary line recently extended into Singapore waters....where the Malaysian vesses anchored for weeks. His own Foreign Minister was reported to have repeatedly tried to call the Metri Besar not to enter the Malaysian vessel anchored for weeks in the waters ( which indicates he knows it's not international waters) but to which the MB responded that he had the FM's blessings to board the Malaysian vessel and then said he needn't ask for permission as he was entering Malaysian waters. QUESTION : PM is contradicting his 2 ministers' views: Foreign Minsiter's view is contradicting the other PM and FM's views, while their Mentri Besar's view contradicts the PM and the FM's . .. So are they confused or confusing themselves ? Do they know history because history cannot be altered at one's whims and fancies.

Singapore is irrelevant. All they have is efficient administration - a functioning Malaysian government with a strong legal system is the biggest threat to Singaporean sovereignty. A weak despotic corrupt Malaysian government is the best thing for Singapore. Mahathir can't wean the Malay voter base of their handout mindset overnight, changing social conventions is difficult and unpopular. Mahathir is using Singapore as a focal point to divert from the unpopular policies and practices slowly coming into force. Malaysians need an enemy to band us together, and the thieving Singaporean whom have happily exploited our incompetence for all these years is the perfect target.

25 years ago, a university mate of mine quoted Mahathir who said the recent weakening of the ringgit was temporary (it had recently dropped from par to 1:1.5) and that it would strengthen and soon surpass the SGD. As, you know, the exchange rate is now 1:3. Put your hopes in him all you want, if you choose not to listen to history, but instead be impressed by his sophistry
@vishnunair28235 жыл бұрын
@@keffinsg that is a reductionist argument. The problems that plague Malaysia go beyond our currency deteriorating. There is a cycle of corruption fed by ingrained religious and racial bias. Mahathir is not innocent, he was culpable in the deterioration of our country. But we have never seen a stronger leader capable of pushing his policies through, hence now with the realization that things need to change, he is the best man to do it. The last thing we care for is the opinion of an insecure Singaporean. Like I said above, a strong and functional Malaysia is the end of Singapore.

As long the racial based policies remains, it not gonna change malaysia. The only time it will change is when malaysians vote for a party with goal to abolish the racial based polices. My humble opinion is the same as yours, it remains to be seen how well they handle power struggle and political survival and remain relevant. Background information on water price: The Water Agreements were guaranteed by the Government of Malaysia in the Separation Agreement signed in 1965 that established Singapore as an independent and sovereign state. The guarantee was also enacted into the Malaysian Constitution by an Act of Parliament. The Separation Agreement was registered with the United Nations. Both countries have to honour the terms of the Water Agreements and the guarantee in the Separation Agreement. Neither Singapore nor Malaysia can unilaterally change them. Linggiu Reservoir is a regulatory reservoir. Singapore paid for the construction of the Reservoir and paid the Johor State government for the use of the land to build the Reservoir. Singapore’s position has consistently been that neither Malaysia nor Singapore can unilaterally change the prices of raw water and treated water specified in the Water Agreements. The Water Agreements provided for a price review after 25 years. Malaysia chose not to review the price of water then. This would have been in 1986 for the 1961 Water Agreement and in 1987 for the 1962 Water Agreement. Malaysia has therefore lost its right to review the price of water. From 1998 to 2003, Singapore and Malaysia were engaged in a period of difficult negotiations over a number of issues which included the price of water. In 1998, Singapore and Malaysia began negotiations on a “framework of wider cooperation”. During the 1998 Financial Crisis, Malaysia wanted financial loans to support its currency; Singapore suggested that Malaysia give its assurance for a long-term supply of water to Singapore. Malaysia eventually had no need for the loans. While Singapore tried to negotiate on terms acceptable to both sides, Malaysia kept changing its negotiating positions on the package of items. On water, Malaysia’s asking price kept increasing throughout the negotiations. It increased from 45 sen per thousand gallons in August 2000, to 60 sen in February 2001, to RM6.25 in September 2002. Finally, in October 2002, Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad told Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong that Malaysia wanted to “decouple the water issue” from the other items in the package. Prime Minister Goh told Prime Minister Mahathir that since Malaysia wanted to discontinue the package approach, Singapore would have to deal with water and the other issues on their stand-alone merits.

Singapore sell treated water at 50 sen (Not 60 dollar) per 1000 gallon. It cost 2.40 RM to treat every 1000 gallon. Malaysia Johor bought 37 million gallon of water daily, according to 2003 records, 20million gallon more than entitled according to the agreement. Johor sold the water back to its citizen at RM3.95 per 1000 gallon, a profit of RM3.45 per gallon or RM46 million per year. That alone obviously make the singaproean fall into his trap, allowing Dr M to bluntly lie in the public. Silly singaproean.

I was wondering how could Mahathir say that Singapore was selling back treated water at S$60/1000gallons. For this, the international audience laughed at the Singapore reporter. Immediately after the laughter, Mahathir very smartly mentions that Singapore sold treated water at 50sen/1000gallon, which I am sure the audience and you (Lu5ck) didn't realise (please refer between 3:20 to 3:28). The fact is, within seconds Mahathir was able to impress the international audience that Singapore was making huge profits buying raw water from Malaysia at MYR0.03/1000gallons (3sen) and selling back treated water to Malaysia at MYR180/1000gallons (S$60). This only shows that Mahathir is tactful in handling his audience be it local or international. By hook-or-crook, he is always the winner.

A well prepared person would have identified his $60/gallon misquote and then denied it is unfair while citing the reasons why it so then see how Mahathir will respond. Its funny how he talks highly about moral and values. If he has one, I'm very sure he would stick and honour to the agreement signed by both countries. Everything is in black and white. Why bring grey to the picture? Instead of stirring trouble with Singapore, why don't you spend the last few years doing something that is within your circle of control? I'm sure the Malaysians would benefit from it rather than playing all these childish games with Sg.

Dr.M is right, what's the big freakin deal? Spore wants to sent warships to one person being on a ship when they can't negotiate for a few cents of water.

Shut down the water supply. See what happens next. Either Singapore goes to table or Singapore can produce their own fresh water from sea water. We Malaysian still have humanity inside us. So to you all big headed Singaporean happy thirsty days if you cross the line.
