Military historian and the Director of the ALPLM Oral History Project, Dr. Mark DePue for "Iwo Jima - The Pacific War's Bloody Crucible."
He'll bring together audio clips, video, maps and photos to tell the story of the World War II battle at Iwo Jima.

How many Japanese were on Iwo Jima? None. There were no Japanese ON Iwo Jima, there were 20,000 Japanese IN Iwo Jima.

5:03 “15 u.s. aircraft carriers”. Did I hear that correctly? In the allele of Philippine sea? Why were there so many in one place? 8:32 “ 34 us air craft carriers” involved in Leyte gulf? I haven’t ever heard that many involved in one battle and I didn’t even know the us navy had that many in there entire ship inventory in 1944

U.S. had Napalm and Willie Pete. And many believe that the flaming-throwing M4 Sherman tanks were decisive in winning the battle.
