I bought a pair of Dr Marten Tassle Loafres in Burgundy back in 1985 as a Sydney Mod (Australia) and STILL wear them today ... although they are now VERY worn with stitching coming apart & even a hole in the toe, but STILL function as house kickabouts after almost 40 years. I actually wore them riding my Vespa P200E back in the day, they were THAT tough. I WILL be buying a new pair soon, and get 40 years wear out of them ... the Doc Marten soles NEVER wear out ! Buy 'em kiddo's, you'll be wearing them for MANY years to come, believe me !

These are fresh but I’m wincing at the break-in technique. Applying heat cause the mink oil to absorb poorly as well as too much causes it to not absorb well. 1 thin coat would have been enough and ensures the leather isn’t damaged. Some other tips for caring for these would be to buy a horsehair brush to clean regularly and applying the mink oil every 2 months or so depending on use. Could also buy a cedar shoe tree so they keep their shape and don’t stink up. Make sure you clean well before applying mink oil in the future also as this will trap the dirt on the shoe.

Yoo I’ve bought these for a wedding in 3 days, it’s a squeeze getting them on and getting blisters but size up slipped, do these soften up and loosen over time?
@stijn8588 Жыл бұрын
@@toby.broughton i almost wear them daily. Sometimes when i have thinner socks and its really hot outside and i walk a LOT i can still get a blister on one side, but on an average day its almost impossible But since you only have had them for a short time i would recommend to just wear thick socks and maybe be prepared for possible blisters.

my feet are not wide, if you have wide feet i would suggest either sizing up or looking into wide fit loafers

I bought one recently and i noticed that the collar spreads out pretty wide especially if you put weight on it, unlike my other loafers with narrow collars. Have you tried using a shoe tree to try to narrow it down?

I wear a uk12 in converse and uk11 in other sneakers 😅 I must have a wide foot because converse always seemed small to me. Anyway, I just bought the Adrian in uk11 and they fit just fine, size 10 was too small

ayo stop saying that higher quality leather takes time to break in, that's not true. High quality leather is actually comfortable out of the box. Doc Martens are uncomfortable because the leather is shite and covered in plastic, that's why it's squeaky
@zkyohm4 ай бұрын
i agree. dr martens are iconic but bad quality wise, fake goodyear welt, low grade leather, no solid construction whatsoever and the leather is cracking overtime. and true high quality leather doesn’t mean it takes time to break in, it is a sign of bad quality leather. i have loafers made out of french calf skin n it is comfortable out of the box.
@alessandroale29454 ай бұрын
@@zkyohmcorrect calf leather is the most comfortable among “low” price lots of brands in the 300-400€/$ offer good calf learher. Morjas, Velasca ecc. And they are not that much more expensive than docs
@zkyohm4 ай бұрын
@@alessandroale2945 actually i got it around 200$ish which is a deal for me with the real goodyear construction n quality leather for the price point, i really can’t complain. i would rather choose solovair though than dr martens it’s only a bit expensive but seems promising.

no you are not alone, the leather is very stiff right out of the box so you have to break the. in
