This shoe cleaning is done by Ringo. He is 37 years old and has been a shoe shiner in Oaxaca City for 30 years. He started shining shoes when he was just a kid and learned everything from a colleague.
Ringo works around Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad and Santo Domingo area. He uses a shoe shine box to carry his tools and shine one shoe at a time. Ringo recycled an aluminium can and uses it as a stool to sit on. This is something I haven't seen before!
I was walking around the Basilica area and saw Ringo shining a man's shoes. I was wearing my boots and decided it was time to get them shine. At the Plaza de la Danza, there was an art exhibition inspired by the work of Rufino Tamayo, a Oaxacan Painter.
My Black Leather Dr. Martens Boots looked so dusty and dirty. Ringo made my boots so clean and the tip so shiny like a mirror.

Yo creo que no las quitó porque por lo general, una boleada de zapatos de este tipo es más express (cuando se usa una caja de boleado). Es lo que he notado, que una boleada más profunda se hace por lo general en un puesto con su silla.

Sea con una caja o en un sitio con una silla, lo correcto es quitarlos. El no los quitó porque sus clientes no le piden ( exigen ) que los quiten!! Muchas gracias y bendiciones!
