She tells it like it is u Dr Mndende. She makes us ask ourselves the difficult questions. How were we turned into Christians? Did we have a choice in becoming Christians. What were we before 1652? Were we without a Religion before then? There's a need to decolonise our Religious beliefs.

I'm a Theologian, female, African and Christian. I like these conversations but always hurt by how people who claim to decolonize hate on other Africans because they chose a different religion from theirs. I wish in our discussions we could be honest enough to give credit where due. African Christianity did shape the mind of the world but also has gone wrong some how just like culture has. Both religion and culture can build or destroy communities. Be proud of your culture without stepping on other people. I wish you could decolonize without making us feel like we are less African if you chose Jesus and more African because you hate Christians. You talk about freedom of religion, but you are stepping on other people. Yes, Christianity was used to oppress just as it had been used to build before Western colonization. Mama ngabe ukhuluma ukuthi why uthi yinhle inkolo yakho.
@edmundsishange36082 жыл бұрын
When you speak the truth you are going to step on people by default, nothing wrong with that unless you want her to sugarcoat the truth. Her job is not to say things that everyone will like, hers is to educate by speaking uncomfortable truths, that is the only way we will wake up. Again I missed the part where she said culture is perfect, she never suggested that, the focus of the conversation was the foreign religion that removed us from ourselves
@siyabongamahaye39462 жыл бұрын
@@edmundsishange3608 I think you and I agree. I didn't say she must sugar coat. I asked that we spesk truth, not a one sided story to try and promote one party but exactly as you say, the truth that will make us uncomfortable, which is, there is a danger to a one sided stort. Let's hear both sides equally. She didn't say culture is perfect but she did imply that all that all that is not right with blacks stems from christianity which I believe is very far from the truth. I do follow Dr. I watch her talk, this was not the 1st, so I know what she teaches. It is true that some people nowadays have adopted a mentality that being 'African' means hating on other people and its growing. Its part of the uncomfortable truth we need to talk as you say
@edmundsishange36082 жыл бұрын
@siyabonga mahaye she is 100% correct Christianity is the core of all that is not right with us, she's busy dismantling that first before she can even begin getting into the ills of our own culture which pale in comparison by the way. You start by focusing on the main problem before you go to the minor one, the chief issue here is to get people properly spiritually aligned first therefore the Dr. is on point.
