@donnagutierrez57404 жыл бұрын
This reminded me of something that happened when I was 17 in high school. I went to school in Arizona which turned out to help in this situation.On my back where the shoulder strap of my bra would meet the backstrap, I got what I thought was a pimple. Considering where it was it was irritated by the rubbing of my bra. After about 4 days it was excruciating huge, hot to the touch, very VERY painful and not a pimple but a. boil ( which actually was a carbunckle). I ewes able to go to classes wearing a halter top so no more rubbing . (this was allowed in Arizona because of the heat). I finally went to the urgent care center of my insurance at the time. The Doctor tried numbing it but there were so many "heads" and the abcess was so full that when he started to add more fluid OMG the pain... So he bandaged what he could and gave me antibiotics in the hope that after a few days the meds would reduce the swelling enough to be able to work on it. They also gave me strong pain meds. Later on that evening I was at my boyfriend's house where we had a standing family dinner etc.every week. Well, the pain was getting worse as the swelling was getting bigger and even demoral tablets were not working. Well my " father in law" decided to take matters into his own hands and had me lie face down on the floor. He then had my boyfriend hold me down while he heated up the neck of a glass Coke bottle and then suddenly stick it onto the boil. Boy did that burn but it also sucked out all the green crap . It halfway filled that bottle with thick greenish pus. He then put a clean cool cloth on it until the burning stopped. The next morning it was so much better. Brutal....yes but it worked. I still have a small scar on my back that is a perfect circle. This all happened the Summer of 1973. I am sure Dr. Lee would not recommend this method but it did work. 😆

@kiwibuddy53414 жыл бұрын
@@janetevans2711 The only thing with the bigger incision is that you have to remember this is technically cosmetic surgery. That cyst isn't going to kill her so we don't have to be extremely careful, we can afford to take the time with this thing and keep in mind that she's going to have a scar. While I totally don't understand the fact that it was in the middle I do feel like the tiny incision was well thought out, because it leaves much less of a scar and is easier to hide, so yeah it's probably not the most EFFECTIVE way, but it's the one that'll make you look the best at the end
@ccoop37744 жыл бұрын
The patient isn't always going to be sitting up. Positions will change throughout the day. I'm used to seeing these cut in the center. If you're going to pack, it's easier to insert the packing from the center. It will take more work, more pain to the patient, if you're working from the bottom. If you're working from the center, you can get the wicking throughout the wound.

I have seen this video and the follow ups several times. It still surprises me that Dr. Lee did not acknowledge the punctum from the very beginning. She usually makes an incision to cut the punctum out first then cleans out the contents, solid or liquid. It took her 2 other videos to finally realize the cyst was located right at the site of the punctum and she was able to clean out the remaining contents. This is what she does in all her other cyst videos.

It finally started draining on its own and I went back to the doctor and he put that Wick in it. When it started to drain I had to sit over the sink as it gushed out. I also cut a Kotex pad in half and put that on my back because there didn't seem to be enough gauze. I'm Healed now but it looks like I was shot buy a gun in my back and there seems to be something near the bottom that's kind of hard. I'll get that checked out soon.

I cant imagine living in a country that requires you to have insurance to get treated. We have universal health care here and I guess we take it for granted.
@Mel-fu9hg4 жыл бұрын
@@jaspearce ? They said the doctor gave them antibiotics. That's a treatment option.
@jaspearce4 жыл бұрын
@@Mel-fu9hg It was clearly not the best option. Here we get what is needed not just a pill. If we need surgery we get it no matter who we are and what we earn. The US is a bit of a dump.

So smart to use the Kotex pad for absorption. I'm sorry you went through such pain and discomfort.

Emergencies are treated in the US. If you walk into a "not for profit " hospital, you will be treated. The ER doc will call in a surgeon if necessary. If surgery is the best option, then you'll have surgery. I have been in countless emergent surgeries over the years for appendectomies, ORIF, bowel resection, just to name a few. The patient will receive top-of-the-line care. I have also read plenty of comments from Canadians, GB, etc, that complain about long waits for surgery. There is no perfect Utopian society.

Dr.Lee, I love to watch your show and your shorts on KZbin but it drives me crazy when you relate everything to some kind of food ever since I started watching you there are so many foods I can no longer eat do you think you could think of something else to related to possibly maybe hopefully

I love the big waterfall ones. Does any one remember from about 3 or 4 years ago the guy with the huge abscess on his butt cheek - he came to Dr. Lee after he already had it worked on. There was a huge scab filled with gunk. And then he came back at least 2 more times to have it drained. I would love to see that one again.

true! I was wondering lately where it was and realised some months ago it's gone. Maybe Dr. Lee had a reason to remove it, who knows. But I also wish to have it back :)

This is the type of cysts that I deal with. This kind of cyst hurts so much. I have Hydradenitus Suppuritiva. These cysts get so infected that the top layers of skin disintegrate, like a burn. It's absolutely hell to deal with.

At several points between 7:35 to 10:10, you will see the red mixture of fluids coming out of the punctum. (That is where the remainder of the cyst is still waiting, and will be excised in chapter 3.)
