Great work on the detailed comparisons! The data really tells the tale and quantifies the "seat of the pants" improvements you can feel while riding. I settled on the 13g Dr.P sliders in my PCX150 several years ago based on my riding weight and fuel economy results. My Dr.P variator didn't fare well during the Cannonball, but I think the failing OEM torque drive caused my problems. I'll refresh everything before the trip this year. I may opt for the Dr.P variator again, but I'll bring a spare (probabaly the OEM) as a backup. Realistically, it's smart to consider the variator and sliders as consumables, just the same as tires or brake pads. The center bushing in the variator will inevitably wear down under stress, so replacing it periodically should be expected maintenance. My backup plan is to run the OEM variator with the Dr.P 13g sliders for the 2025 Scooter Cannonball. We should be reasonably well matched on speed, but I'm gonna out-distance you on fuel range! 🤣👍 --QM

I love this scientific method of testing! If it were mine I would use the 13g sliders. The Cannonball will be more highway and less traffic. Seat of the pants is the worst method. I’m reminded of when Harley came out with the Twin Cam engine. They made Stage One and Stage Two kits that actually made the bike slower. When questioned about out they responded “We know, but it feels faster”😆

0-80 13g Dr Pulley 2.5sec reduction over stock is HUGE!!! It would take a lot of engine mods to match this improvement - CVT tuning should always be somebody’s first point of call on modification. Easy gains. I had a Vespa ET2 a few years ago - fitting a Malossi 2000 variator was always my favourite modification for cost. The bore kit, pipe, bigger carb also made a big difference but fuel consumption increased massively and the noise!! 😂 I would say only downsides to these variator upgrades is belt life, they are definitely harder on belts.

Well, the data appears conclusive. The Dr Pulley variator feels like a quality product, too. I think in order to gain performance we might have to sacrifice durability. So, we just need to check the variator every 9/10 thousand kilometers or so. Looking forward to future fuel numbers. 👍

Great! Had Dr. Pulley sliders on one of my scoots, were great. Went to 10% lighter, like they recomended. Will definitely buy again, maybe even try their variator. What were the stock variator roller weight again?
@RideWithAlex12 сағат бұрын
14.5 Grams on the stock rollers with the stock variator.

Very good. I have just bought a full set of a new Sym 200 HD Evo (Fuel injected - 2009) variator and weights, which I haven't fitted yet. 22000-HHA-001 part number. Maybe I need to get DR. Pulley instead.

I told you so,two or three years ago IIRC!Excellent video my friend! Now,which one do I get for my 125 Donnie and what roller weight if I liked the 13gr. performance?
@RideWithAlex14 сағат бұрын
If it is a 125 air cooled this might fit but if it's a 125 liquid cooled you have to do the research what model works for you.
@zzt231gr14 сағат бұрын
@RideWithAlex it is the liquid cooled but my previous research was fruitless.I could not find any info...

Didn't know Dr. Pulley was a Taiwanese brand, founded in 1987 based on its company's website information

Listen Alex, take the variomat and the second side variomat (venltilvar or outside driven poley like you say in video haha) and take it to a turner to turn it one degree towards the bore, and put 25% lighter TechPulley Rollers in the variomat, and then you will see miracles...
@RideWithAlex5 сағат бұрын
For the moment it's going to stay as is because my budget is limited in preparation for the Cannonball and also I need reliability and endurance there not to experiment, but noted for the future :)
@markoskoda5 сағат бұрын
@@RideWithAlex thats not experiment, thats the fact... all my scooters have that tuning ;) try once...

Stock grams but using the special sliders not the stock rollers.

Alex, I suppose you knew very well the condition of the road where you tested the acceleration, because we have seen numerous dangerous potholes there. Very friendly, take care!
