Can somebody please explain to me how languages work in SA? And by that I mean, I notice that quite often a local language is spoken on TV. But you (just as the rest of Africa) have several languages. Is there like 1 language (besides i guess english) everybody speaks? Or is it that the people in the entertainment industry are mostly from one tribe and there can communicate as such or do you understand multiple languages or...? Hope somebody can help!

I have also seen people speak different languages but understand each other. Like one person speaks Zulu and another answers in Setswana. They might understand the language but not be fluent enough to carry the conversation so they answer in their own language
