Dr. Robert A. Jonas is interviewed by Dr. Brandon Nappi, Executive Director of Leadership Programs, Berkeley Divinity School at Yale University. Dr. Jonas suggests that the Holy Trinity should not be seen as merely a doctrine or as dogma. The Trinity cannot be understood as merely an object of our awareness. Rather, we are each gifted with Trinitarian awareness. In his new book, "My Dear Far-Nearness" (Orbis Books, 2022) he reviews Hebrew and Christian scriptures, creeds such as the Nicene Creed, scores of Christian mystics, and basic psychodynamic understandings of the psyche to introduce spiritual practices that help us access dimensions of the First, Second, and Third "Persons" of the Holy Trinity. Jonas maintains that the Trinity is not something to be believed, but rather, something to be lived, moment to moment.
