Since you've already given your answer about spending rings during Jackpot, I can only say, hey, fantastic run And also idk why Bomb is so funny to watch now but I love he's the smallest thing ever in a kart and I don't know It's a Bomb its somehow funnier than gutbuster now

So, does using rings while winning them in slot actually make you go faster?

Since getting rings from the slots when you already have 20 behave like you used them so no rings go to waste from the slots, using them while you're getting your payout doesn't do much of anything, so the short answer is "no". However, I think the actual answer to that is "in a hypothetical, very niche case that's not really worth worrying about". There could be a chance that you drive over some rings on the ground that you could collect during the brief period of time between you having 19 rings from using rings and the payout putting you back to 20 so you'd basically pick a ring off the ground and the payout's ring gives you the boost so it doesn't get wasted, but I'm not sure if it's worth doing that, if it's even possible. One, more practical, reason to use rings while getting your payout, though, is so that you could prolong your ring boost after your payout is over without having a gap between the end of the payout and using your first ring. If you're playing a class that can't retain its ring boost very long (the relation is that, the further down and right you go on the character chart, the shorter your ring boost sticks around), that MIGHT be beneficial? Bomb doesn't lose his ring boosts THAT quickly compared to, say, Metal Sonic, or even Fang, so that's not really an issue here. If you're playing the top left corner, though (so Tails' area), you probably want to NOT chug rings so that you can keep at 20 for when your next Jackpot rolls around, since they get BIG boosts from all the rings you get from that payout when you're over 20 rings. In my case, like I said in response to another comment, the big reason I was chugging rings here at the start of each laps was to be able to prep an the insta-whip for the maces since I was getting sick of getting a face full of spike ball. Also, I just have a habit of using rings when I'm drifting or bump into a wall, even if I'm getting a payout.

In normal races you could use do what Light said on using rings while getting a payout to pick off rings from the ground possibly denying them to other players behind you
