Dr. Sbaitso (1992) vs. Microsoft Sam

As demonstrated in numerous other videos, there are quite a few words which the infamous Microsoft Sam text-to-speech synthesizer cannot pronounce correctly. So how does Creative Labs' speech synthesis from a decade earlier compare? I pulled out an old 486 PC with an original Sound Blaster Pro card to give a demonstration of the included Dr. Sbaitso "talking psychiatrist" program. He's a lot of fun to chat with -- just don't curse too much, or he'll give you a parity error!

Hah, Dr Sbaitso can even pick out expletives hidden in scrambled letters!

You forgot to try "pointer" another word Microsoft Sam can't pronounce correctly for whatever reason (he pronounces it "pwanter", like he thinks he's french or something).

Dr Sbaitso pronounces "pointer" correctly. Therefore, his pronunciation is superior even though his speech patterns are way inferior, and often confusing.

I used to play with this years ago, long before M$ Sam. The first time I heard M$ Sam, I thought they should have done a better job than Creative did with their sbtalker speech synthsizer over a decade earlier. This old program taught me how to say the alphabet faster than anybody!
