There is the real person, Shah Rukh, and there is his public image saturated with the energy of those who wrote the songs, who sang them, who designed his costumes, cut his hair, etc. Plus the energy of the people who love him and have invested that love into the public image. Now he is as iconic as Santa Claus or something. That's why people react to him that way. It's like getting in touch with a MIRACLE from your childhood or the most intimate corners of your soul. I think he deserves this degree 100% for having been the face of this phenomenon and having supported it, and having been able to pull it off for such a long time. f you ask me, the phenomenon of SRK has given me so much happiness and has had a nice therapeutic effect on my psyche.. which is more than any Dr. I know has ever done for me. However the fame SRK had initially was HUGE, its still there but lately his movies have been strictly commercial without much soul and meaning. SRK 's claim-to-fame-movies used to typically pull at the heartstrings and really affect audiences and people will only accept him if he returns to that original form - not necessarily romantic though. He is still incredibly famous, but all sections of the audience do not like him anymore - because of newly developed cynicism of his claim to fame, and hatred for the above mentioned meaningless commercial movies. Till he finds his new form, be assured that his fame will never fade and the love the audiences have for him will never go.
