“The Japanese are such good painters - they're so meticulous. Everything is always so perfect.”
Today, Dr. Sherwood is discussing “Rosa rugerosa Thunb.” by Michie Yamada. Her paintings of Japan’s wild roses earned her a Gold Medal and Best Botanical Art Exhibit at the 2018 RHS show.
Michie dedicates much of her creative practise to representing Japanese roses. Her book, titled ‘Botanical Art Lesson: Drawing Beautiful Roses’ is published in both Japanese and Chinese. It’s a popular learning resource for her fellow native artists.
