Philosopher Simon Critchley joins me at the Institute for Advanced Astonishment to discuss his new book, On Mysticism, and how the mystics can help people find their way inward, Godward, and uncover their divine nature.
As he writes in his book, "Mystical experience without theology is blind. Mystical theology without experience is empty.”
We talk about mystics such as Meister Eckhart, Margurite Porete, Julian of Norwich, John of Ruusbroeck, and poets such as TS Eliot, the philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer and their advice on awakening and we discuss how reading these mystical works in a sacred way, called lectio divina (divine reading) will help one to dissolve the false self/egoic skeptical mind and realize their hidden true nondual immortal identity!
James Plath is a mystic and author of several books on awakening.
