*Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* (2022) is the MCU sequel that took a page (and a portal or three) from Sam Raimi’s book of horror-comedy flair, turning what could have been a straightforward magic adventure into a surreal rollercoaster of trippy visuals and jump-scare surprises. A lot of people hate this movie, but it is actually one of my favorite Marvel films. I love the vibe of Dr. Strange movies overall, but the vibe Raimi brings on this one is sooo my speed.

Most of the people who hate this movie watched a TV show where Wanda terrorized an entire town, never even apologized let alone attempted to make amends, flew away to avoid being held responsible, and then spent time studying a book of evil magic... and couldn't accept Wanda as a villain here.

Awesome. I love this movie, except I think the whole section with the Iluminati could be removed. I think America Chavez is a great character, and I think Xochitl Gomez was a little bit let down by the writers of this. She does a good job with what little she's given to do, but she could have been so much more awesome. I still have my hopes they'll do _Young Avengers_ of which she would be a main player.

The term "activist writer" shows where your biases come from so we'll leave that alone. What makes you the most angry? The fact that she's a powerful female character? Or the fact that she's Latina? Or the fact that she's openly and unapologetically a lesbian? Joe Casey, the writer who created her, modeled her on Muhammad Ali. Perhaps that's it? She certainly isn't a failed character, considering she's one of the most popular new characters created in the 2000s. (Tara and Kevin, I apologize for this comment. Some kinds of bigotry cannot go unchallenged.)
