For me, the most inspiring thing about Victor Wooten is his appreciation for life. Connecting with nature and life in general. That is what influences me the most. Even his explanation for learning music makes sense to me.

I was looking at a Bass Guitar at Guitar Center, the sales guy asked me "have you ever heard Bella Fleck?", So he pulled out a CD and played a song, I responded who's the bass player and he said you. I have been a fan ever since. Your bass skills are amazing. However, your life skills are second to none! The Tips I picked up today will help take my playing to the next level. Thank You! BTW I put a set of DR Blues on my bass last night and absolutely love them.

Music to me Victor I started to teach myself bass 🎸1997 The one thing I feel, is that I can express myself in the band I'm in, when I play my bass. But to express myself as a person that is hard. I have always been bullied and controlled by others, this has had an affect on my mind and my well being. I am now trying to be me through my bass and music. Music is so healing for me. Better than any doctor or pill. I'm now trying to be the person I should of been, through playing my bass guitar and music 🎶 Music to me it's my new life my past pain will fade and my new life will grow Music has the power to heal to bring people together of all cultures. It shows your emotions its power but power has to be used in the right way

Victor inspires me. I’m a mediocre bassist at best. Not for lack of wanting to be better but my work schedule most of my life wasn’t conducive with a lot of practice but I planned on getting all the practice I wanted when I retired so when I retired in 2018 I had a freeking small stroke. I do consider myself very lucky I can still lead a normal life and still play but the stroke left me numb on my right side, plucking side, and my fingers get a mind of their own sometimes. My worst symptom was I can practice for hours to learn a song but half an hour after I forget most if not all of what I learned. So thanks to the advice of Victor in some of his talks I’m happy just playing the bass. He made it ok to not be able to learn songs and just enjoy the process which is what I do. Thank You Victor. A side note I’ve always used DR strings especially the coated Red Devils. It’s just a bonus that Victor is a spokesman for them.

I'm not likely to ever be good enough to play bass with Victor, but I'd love to go out and bird-watch (or bird-listen) with him. I have an aviary with a couple-hundred tiny exotic finches in walk-in flight habitats, and Victor is right: they are always communicating with each other, and you can sit and listen and figure out what's going on in their "world" by learning their language, just as we learn our own, or as we learn the language of music.

Music is a puzzle to solve with the last piece always missing! It's growth! A tool to be better at a game called life! That why we say PLAY music. it's a game, it's fun! Here is a reflection about the expression ''playing music'' : I'm learning Portuguese now our days and they don't say PLAY music but Touch music. Brings all sorts of questions? I would be curious to hear what Victor think about that. Thank you Victor for your inspirations!

Listening to and understanding the lyrics is so important to what we do as bass players as we can have such a huge impact on the tone (musically and emotionally) of a song for example my bands song writer sent me an acoustic folk song but, when I heard the lyrics and realised it was about right-wing populism, I instantly became angry and wrote a tense driving verse and fornthe chorus turned on the big muff and played and aggressive bass line with a typical "metal" scale. Now we have a great metal type song and we write and play mostly fuck but that's not whats this song wanted.
