The debulking surgery helps mostly with low grade tumors. If it’s intermediate or high grade tumors, even if you have the surgery, there is a high probability of recurrence of the cancer. So it’s not the entire solution to appendix cancer at all. Unfortunately no other treatment exists. Appendix Cancer Has a funding problem because it is so rare and it doesn’t make enough money for the companies to put into research for treatments. The greatest amount of effort should be placed in a screening test for appendix cancer, which just hasn’t happened at all.

I think Sugarbaker gave my sister a year she wouldn't have otherwise had. But it was a horrible recovery.
